I'm running 12T pinion at fixed governor of 1800 and 1950 rpm. Medium govornor, slow startup, PWM of 8, and autorotation enabled. The motor is coming down 130 degrees on 70 degree day and I'm not flying very hard as it's on a new Logo 600 3D. My trex 4025-630 on 13T pinion comes down around 105-113 with much harder flying and on a heavier trex 600ESP. Any reason I'm running hotter? The timing is set to normal and PWM of 8. I'm wondering if I need to go to outrunner mode on the PWM?

Thanks,
Roger

Outrunner mode doesn't work well in helicopters.

There could be many causes for motor getting hot, although 130F is not that hot for a Scorpion. How is the pinion mesh? Too tight of a mesh can increase the motor temperature. Are you using the same blades in your Logo and T-Rex? Different blades have different efficiencies. Are you using the same ESCs? Different ESCs drive the motor differently. Etc.

I just took out the electronics from my Trex and put them in the Logo. Everything the same except the motor. I tried flying it today and the motor had very weak power in my custom settings for that motor. I loaded up the old settings for the scorpion 4025-630 and it ran again but warm as stated.

I don't get it. I ran with settings (set rpm mode) from the old motor and it works with the gearing for the trex, but when I put in the kv and gearing for the Logo, the motor has no power at all, barely enough to lift the heli. I wish I had some settings that worked as they should.

I run that 4035-500 on my logo 600 and it's has plenty power; I am using jive though. That motor does get very warm. I run 2000-2200 rpm on mine. Have you looked at the log?

I used castle on my logo 500 and was using set rpm and it has plenty of power too. Now I use the vbar gov on the 500.

One thing I would check is your motor connections.

The CC 85HV doesn't have the logger

I may try some different settings like regular governor high and low without set rpm. Yes, Jive is the way to go, but I don't have the expendable cash at the moment.

on my 4025-630 i ran 8 and low on my trex 600 and it was a beast. would come down at like 180.

now i run a 4035-500 on my 600 at low and 12 atm its doing ok but the gov is slow to react and seems to over shoot. comes down hardly warm.

on my 700e im running 4035-560 12 and normal i think and its a monster it never misses a beat and i can not bog it out. BUT my motor comes down at over 200 degree's on a 70 degree day.

Who cares... its just money...

Ok, I put the governor in simple mode with low gain. It seems to bog some on sustained tic tocs but now actually has good power. I'm going to set it in airplane mode and try the vbar governor. The motor temps are 130's which is higher than my 4025-630 under similar loads.

Why are you not using the Set RPM mode? That's the gov to use with CC controllers.

Unfortunately when I put it in set rpm mode with the appropriate settings as far as tooth count and kv, my heli won't go above 1200 rpm even though I've got it set to go 1800 and 2000rpm.

I'm going to put it in airplane mode and let the vbar govern it. Maybe Mikado can do a better job of governing than CC

Something is not right, the Set RPM governor works well. What pole count number did you enter in the software? Check your motor specs for the correct number. What timing? It should be Low or Normal. Don't take it the wrong way, but maybe you didn't set something properly in the software. Post your settings file, maybe we can spot something.

More likely a settings issue, but to be on the safe side, why not contact Castle support? Maybe the controller is defective and shouldn't be used at all.

Ok, I put the governor in simple mode with low gain.
This is the equivalent of flying a fixed pitch type heli where throtle controls rpm, thus NO governor UNTIL stick is left unmoved for 1.5seconds. Whatever head speed thay may be.

I vote its a settings issue...sounds like throtle calibration.

130F motor temp is nothing, specially if doing 3D.

OK it wasn't working in set rpm mode and these were the settings. I'm going to try regular old "high gain" mode tomorrow and see if that makes any difference.

Medium gain, Medium spoolup.

PWM 8, normal timing, 8 pole count/12T/106T

Throttle Calibration???

Did you do the calibration settings on the throttle per the video on the CC site???
I am only asking because the last two that I made changes on would not work properly until I did this and it is the first time that I have had to do this.... so just asking....

Rogman,

The Scorpion HK 4035-500 is a 10 pole motor - the GOV will not function correctly with pole count = 8.

10 pole motor? WTH? Readyheli showed it as an 8 pole motor! That makes perfect sense though! I've got it acceptably running with high gov/high gain, but will put it at 10 poles and see if that fixes it. Thanks!

Let us know how that works.

Gain - for firmware 3.20 - 3.26...
14 - 16 works best on my Auroras HV110/HV120ICE + 4035-530
18 for the logo 600 HV80ICE. + 4035-500

Hope this helps.
