Recently had a motor scare with my 700E and I was wondering what would be the best performing replacement motor for a T-Rex 700E 3g, on 12s, for serious 3D?

Right now I've got the stock motor in it and it seems to be producing pretty good power but at a recent fun fly, some of the 700E's had crazy power but I have no comparison as this is my first .90-sized electric heli.

I was looking at the Hyperion and scorpion motor but the shaft isn't long enough to fit in the motor pinion bearing block and the motor mounting holes doesn't line up with the stock motor mounting plate.

They have shaft extenders for the motors. so what ever one you find should be fine if you get the extender. The main motor shaft goes half way into the pinion and the extender goes the rest the way. but just watch your self there isnt a hole lot of room because of the servo the stock motor already almost touches it. It cant be any more wide. Im not ready to look for a new motor yet so I havent took the time to look for a good replacement.

You can get an extended shaft motor to mate up with the pinion.
And a Scorpion motor plate http://grandrc.chainreactionweb.com...oduct_info.html

Find yourself a KDE Direct 1917H/1Y-N42 motor. If you want power this thing will deliver. Just be weary of your batteries.

To get correct answer to your question we need some info on what you have and where you want to be.

What stock motor are you running now? 510M or 510MX? The MX has better power than 510M.

What headspeed are you running now and what headspeed do you want to run?
Which ESC are you running?

* THe ALign 510MX makes good power with 3D flight times 6:00 minutes @ 2050HS comes down cool after fight. 45c 5000 battery

* The Align 530MX makes great power with 3d Flights times 5:30 minutes 2100HS to 2150HS figure about 5:30 minutes with 45c 5000mah batterys, cool after flight

* THe Scorpion 4035-560 makes crazy power at 2150HS to 2200HS figure 5:00 minute or less of 3D flight comes down HOT .

If your going for crazy power I would look at X-era 4030/2.5y-560 running at 2150HS , motor runs cool is very efficent and the price is NOT out of this world. JMO

The Neu 1915 1.5Y heli motor is also a great choice. It comes with a long shaft, 60mm. And being a 450KV motor you can run larger pinion, IE more tooth contact on the main gear.

The 530 Kv motors look like a good KV then. THe Align 530MX we talked about good choice. Scorpion have new line of HKIII 4035-530 , Kontronik 700-52 is about the same as align 510MX but more efficent and cooler running oh 2x the price. If the 530 at 2100HS isn't enough You should be able bump it 2150HS with 530 motor in CC Gov with no problem.

THe other thing you may want to look at is the weight of your setup. I just dropped 9 oz from my 700 and my buddy dropped 1 lb. from his 700E.

Looks like I will be going with the Scorpion 4525 530. From all the reports, that sounds like the motor to go with for most power and best efficiency.

I put the quantum 4530-500 on my 700E with a 13t pinion and I run 1650, 1850, and 2050 headspeed with the ESC never getting above ambient temperature. On 1650 headspeed, I get around 9 minutes of flight time but you REALLY have to know how to control the collective.
