My tail servo went out on my Raptor. I have a raptor 50v2 and am looking for a good servo that will last for a while that does not cost crazy cash. Most of my flying is hover and flying though the air not crazy 3d. I am working on Autos and inverted flight.

Thank you for any input!!!!!

Which gyro?

I've been using a Hitec 6965 on the tail of my Trex-700 for almost 2 years now, run it around tail first pretty fast, tail slides, piro-flips (bad ones), ect. Best tail I've ever setup. This servo has been good for me and not too spendy.

Yes more info is needed to get to the root issue. The gyro is specially needed in this case.

One 30 has piezo gyro /nes517
one 30 has gy401 / futaba 9250

I'm addicted to flying! Seriously!! I need rehelihab!

What do Auto Gyros have to do with your raptor 30?

9253 or 9254 are great on that Gyro. Align DS650 is a great low cost choice as well.

A few years ago I ran a Hitec HS525 on the tail of a Raptor with a 401 running it (in non DS mode) and was surprised at how well it flew.

I forget the model number, but Hyperion has a good tail servo for around$ 40. I ran one in my Logo for a few months and it was great.

Align DS620 will do the trick just don't run it on 6v.

If your looking for really cheap then get an analogue Futaba or Hitec servo preferably faster than 0.16 and put your 401 to none DS mode and add some delay.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Good Cheap Tail Servo

NOPE
I wonder if this is any good for a Raptor 50
Hamo

Model: D922MG
junk^^^^

Most if not all Hobbyking cheap servos DIE within minutes of using them in a gyro. Search thru the internet...

The Align 620 will give you no longevity, have several friends that try them, run hot and eventually fail within a season.

Try the Savoc 1290 Tail servo, is just below $68, some places only $56 and is a purposed design tail servo.

If you want to stop wasting time, get a brusless futaba tail servo, it will outlast anything you own.

Santiago

Edit
The s9253 is a "cheaper" used option. I had one and it was reliable, it also depends of how much life has seen.
Good advice David!

Savox/align DS 620 are excellent tail servos for about 70$ shipped (roughly half of the top line servos). You really don't want a cheapo tail servo. I've tried em and it is a PITA chasing the tail and having slow wag etc due to crap beyond your control. You may be able to get away going cheaper on cyclics if you don't push the heli too hard, but a tail servo/gyro is not something to skimp on.

High Voltage just works better

MoneyPit I think you missed it, that HK servo is a 12g micro servo!

DS650 is about as cheap as ide go for a tail servo.

Yes I did, sorry.
h6040?
Is not made to work as a tail servo, and it will probably wear or burn up prematurely as many other high power servos. Same thing with the hyperion.

You must undrstand that the duty cycle for a tail servo is much diferent than of a cyclic servo. The sencitivity, deadband, motor and geartrain speed is design to quick change directions without straining.

If you fly sport or mild, and you can get away using a very low gyro gain, you could use a standard servo. But if your flying requires any kind of holding power for side, basckwards or precission, then you need a purposed tail servo.

duty cycles,meaning constantly adjusting??
Don't cyclic servos on FBL machines have to perform this as well??
I need to know why a servo with great speed .06 or better, good torque metal gears(optional)and 6v capable cannot be used on a basic gyro. And were not talking framerates, most gyros you can choose.
not questioning anyone's advise, just wondering if we could get a little more in-depth about the difference. If brand "a" tail servo had a speed of.06,torque 47 oz,and brand"b" servo had .06 torque of 167 oz and was not labeled as a rudder servo can be used
