We are still having a local heli funfly. If you can't make the others, come on over. No fees, no contests unless the pilots decide to have events. Free flying with whatever type flying you want to do. Not just 3D. Novices encouraged to come and help is available. Wide-open spaces for helis only. Starting Friday afternoon thru Sunday noon.

The May 2011 Fresno Heli Fun Fly has been cancelled. Due to scheduling conflicts and other constraints we found this necessary. We appreciate your patience for those who wanted a quick descision; however there was much we had to do to stop the ship. For those of you had encouraged us to put a Fun Fly on again after several years of hiatus for the Fresno Vertical Challenge, thanks again for your support, however we thought this is the best course for the heli community.

We still have our field open to helis only those dates in May as all other events are all booked. We started this fun fly with the intent of having a gathering for local Fresno heli pilots as there has been considerable local interest in helis recently. The field will be used for an informal local heli gathering as had been said in an early post and anyone is welcome to join us. We do not want to broach any other events. We encourage you to go to them. The field will sit idle if we don't use it, so the local heli guys are keeping this opportunity to have helis only.

Our gathering will be just flying and activities with no demos or vendors. AMA required and we use 2.4gHz and 72 mHz. Turbines are allowed with Turbine waiver. Night Flying. No registration or fees. We will be camping in our trucks, cars, and RVs. BBQing our own food and sharing, contained campfires at night for primal bsing and other stuff.

To get the the FRCM field from the South take Hwy 99 North to Hwy 41 East thru Fresno until Ave 12. There's a stoplite here turn left and continue on Ave 12 for appx 3.3 miles at the edge of the orange groves and before the open fild before Madera Ranchos turn right on the gravel road where FRCM sign is posted.
From the North go south on Hwy 99 until south of Madera and take the first exit which is Ave 12. Go thru Madera Ranchos appx 10 miles and past open field outside of town until the first orange grove on the left turn onto the gravel road.

The field will be open to Helis all weekend starting on Friday. I've been cooped up in the house all last week due to a nasty cold that seems like it's starting to subside... I hope. If that's true, we're planning on dragging the trailer out Friday morning and staying the whole weekend. Come on out and fly Friday if you can make it, Otherwise we'll see you on Sat!

This event is a go.

The field is open at 8:00am Friday morning and we have it until Sunday 5:00pm. We will have the pilot stations open for flying after a pilots meeting that will run about 15 minute each day. This is for safety and also if anyone wants to bring up any questions, have an issue, or have a particular event, such as autos, drag racing or whatever the registered pilots want. Otherwise open flying for helis only. We will have night flying for those so inclined Friday and Saturday. If you want to do night electric planker flying, I'm sure that's okay, otherwise no planks.

We prolly will relinquish the field to general club flying of all models Sunday around 12:00 noon.

From 99 south get off on the Ave 12 exit and go east. You will go about two miles and go through the town of Madera Ranchos. When you exit the town, still going east on Ave 12, you will see a large field on the left flanked by high tension power lines. That is the field and the entrance will be marked with signs and is about a mile from the outskirts of the town.

We are planning a tri-tip sandwich lunch on Saturday, I forget the cost but it's reasonable and historically very very good.

Looking forward to seeing everybody... we're less than 24 hrs away now!

What a Blast

Great FUNFLY guys, just the way I like them low key. I think this weekend was the most I've flown in one weekend in a long time I was actually burned out. Thanks to everybody responsible for putting this together and will be back for next year.

To all of those who came and flew with us this weekend, thank you! We had a great time as well, and though I didn't take EVERY opportunity to fly, I burned about two gallons through my Trex 600 and had about another dozen electric flights... I don't think I've ever flown that much in such a short period of time and it was a blast!

We wanted to keep it low key... a friendly sort of get together where you could fly or BS (or both) as much as you wanted. Low stress and a lot of fun was what we were aiming for, and hopefully that's what everybody got.

We are planning on doing it again next year... have a lot of ideas that came from the guys that flew with us this weekend. Still going to go for laid back, but we might do a couple of things a little different.

Thanks again to everybody who came out and helped make our event so much fun! See you again next year!
