Broke the front landing gear holder on the main frame in half How does that crack and the skids are fine ? Now I need a new main frame. Nothing sticks to this delrin plastic to fix it. I didn't even land hard when it cracked. I don't have enough material on the frame to make a repair on it. Oh well, just needed to vent a bit. I never thought this part of the frame would bust. I may beef up the new frame in that section before I fly it.

I have been ABUSING one of my mcpx helis and I haven't managed to break the landing gear mount yet.

Couldn't you just find some brass tube stock at your LHS that just fits around the front LG mount to hold the pieces solid and a little ShoeGoo or epoxy to hold it all together ? ( at least until you can get a replacement ) I just checked and 3/16" x 0.014 brass tube fits perfect around the lug.......unless you broke the entire lug right off ?

I broke one of the canopy mounts off main frame and seem to have glued it back in place pretty well using CA + accelerator.

If you are going to replace the main frame, will you let us know how it goes? Seems like pretty major surgery.

I just replaced mine because all but one of the canopy supports were broke off and CA was too brittle to hold them past one more crash.

I just unscrewed all the servos, the motor, and the main board, and then moved everything over to the new frame as a single piece. The only thing I unplugged and removed first was the tailboom/tail motor.
Then put back all the screws holding the electronics. Next, transferred the mainshaft bearings to the new frame and finished putting back on the rest of the parts.

It was done in less than 10 minutes. No big deal at all.

Fix

I've broken the landing gear mounts, the main frame, the rear swashplate ball, canopy and tail fin and fixed them all. For the frame and LG repairs it's amazing what black thread, CA and a couple little pieces of leftover CF rod will do.

Nice

I will probably build my own skids and fix a mount up front that ties into the plastic in front of the motor. I have had great success on building skids on other micros with brass rods. The brass will just bend in a crash and you can just shape it back into a set of skids. Takes 5 seconds. I never thought the brass would work but I have another Walkera heli that has been going for years now on a homemade brass skid. I used solder also to make the brass skids. Another great thing I have found for repairs is compound bow string serving material. I was able to wrap parts with it and when you tie it off the ends can be melted into a tiny wax ball. The serving is strong as can be. If you know how to serve bow strings there is a way to tie off the serving so it is tight as anything. Then I would coat that in CA. I refuse to spend too much on replacement parts if I can make a better part for pennys. The price on the skids for the MCPX was rediculous.
