TP and Hyperion both offer multi-port chargers. I would take a serious look at either brand.

FMA Cellpro 10s is a dual port charger. I parallel charge off both ports to charge 4 packs at the same time, 5 amps per pack with my Cellpro. I'm also parallel charging 3s packs with my Powerlab 8, up to 6 at a time at 3c. I understand the risks and feel comfortable saying its better for your packs to parallel charge with a quality charger then go with a cheap 4 port charger.

But doesn't the Cellpro 10 have some limitations as a dual-port charger? Is each port completely independent of the other?

The Cellpro 10S is not a dual port charger, it is a single output charger with 2 balance connections similar to a Hyperion 1420i. I say this because each port is not configurable independently.

It can charge and balance two packs at the same time, seperately. But yes, because of the way FMA implimented its dual port functionality, the packs need to be at a similar state of charge and of a similar size. If the OP really didn't want to go the parallel route and is using all 3s packs, the for all intends in purpose, it will suite is his needs a dual port charger.

Under the hood, the Cellpro 10s is acually a 10s serial charger with two seperated channels (5s each). It has two seperate outputs and will balance all cells on each channel seperately. Because serial charging can be dangerous, it has safety switches which do not engage if you've incorrectly connected the packs. You can also reconfigure it to be a single port charger, charging packs between 6s and 10s. Or set to balance two 5s or lower packs together. I used it this way when I was running a dual 4s packs in series for an 8s model.

If you looking to charge different size packs or start charges at different start times this not the right charger for you.

I don't mean to argue but it is a single 10s charger in a box. There is only one DC-DC converter and only one output (the far left and far right banana jacks, the middle 2 are just a series jumper). They have done a few clever things that allow it to appear as though it is a dual port charger, like allowing the balance ports to be used together or separately and firmware that can keep track of each port to give you mAh returned for each.

I thought I had the smoke and mirrors covered in the second paragragh? Regardless, I think the OP checked out long ago. Odd how that happens so often.

I have a Hyperion 1420i, I parallel charge 2 6s 5000 packs using only one of the 2 balance ports, because the board goes up to 7s I simply force one pack (Align balance connector) into the 7s port and the other pack into the 6s port on the same board. I started series charging them using both ports but obviously that is much more inefficient because the input voltage needs to be stepped upto 12s voltage!

Why don't I parallel charge them and use both balance ports I hear you say, because the charger won't let me!

If the packs balance well and have had the same usage, parallel balance charging is the way to go, plus the cells equalise themselves between packs!

60% of the time, it works every time!
