Took my heli out yesterday (new machine) with brand new DX 7SE transmitter and lost the heli... Yes, I could have avoided the situation by doing a range check... (DOH)...

Come to find out, upon opening up the transmitter, the antenna wire was not connected to the board!!! F*@%!!!!

Just an FYI for you guys buying new transmitters.. Takes 5 minutes to check!

Hindsight

This also answers why I was having trouble binding on the bench.. Worked when the transmitter was really close.. but not when you were 2 feet away...

I was new to the whole 2.4 system and didn't realize what was going on... Lesson learned the hard way :+)

Your heli was talking to you telling you there was a problem. Thats a red flag too, usually you HAVE to be a couple of feet away to bind.

this is quite bad actually... your hobbyshop guy should be checking this also... when I bought mine at LHS, the guy takes the radio out inspects it with me before handing over and purchasing...
