X5 is a 550 sized heli. Although it comes with 500mm blade, you can use larger 520mm blades. I have not yet tested 550mm blades, but that testing will happen sometime this year.

Since we are sponsored, I'll leave "How do they fly?" to other users.

Got rid of my protos to buy mine about 2 months ago. I have almost 50 fifty flights in a little over a month. I love this heli, it's smooth and has unbelievable power especially in this size heli. I'm running edge 523's on mine and lowered the headspeed on mine, still flies amazing. I have a hard time choosing which heli to take with me in the mourning before work between this and my 6hv.

well i have to say the Gaui X5 is the best heli i have ever flown, this is not just mumbo but honest truth. from the construction and build is excellent plus the stock supplied scorpion motor and 100 amp esc it makes one hot combo. also the supplied 16 tooth motor pinion will give the best pilots a ride of there life, i am very impressed with a 15 tooth pinion running 100% IU2 / edge 523 main blades and 86 tails, you can even run a 14 tooth pinion and still have excellent flights. i don,t think there are any better 550 size helis going that will keep up with this gem. parts are cheap as well.

there's plenty good reason they call it the "X5 grin"

So there are side effects to flying one. Your face ends up like this

I also have a X5 and a 6HV, both are insane.

X5 on 16t pinion is a rocket, 5 min flights, motor and battery are warm. The thing is just so smooth.

the stock Gaui 100amp ESC's internal BEC is capable of supporting the servos in FBL configuration without any trouble as per JC Zankl of Empire RC/Team Gaui USA.

I have a quick question reference the combo kit with the servos, motor, ESC and BeastX. The cyclic servos in this kit seem a bit slow but the tail servo looks plenty fast (based on the performance numbers). For the ones running this kit how do you like the kit servos?

Ugly can be fixed stupid is forever!

X5

I GOT mine since JULY 2011
its an amazing machine !
flys like a 500 class with the stability of a 600 class,
build is a pleasure the GAUI quality is very good.
the parts are a little expensive for this class of machine but the quality of the beast justify this price
stock motor/ESC is a super combo and somme MKS 1009 at cyclic and DS650 at the tail (all connected to a BEASTX) and riiiide baby !
for the bec i plug a direct LIFE 2S 850 mah on the microbeast it works fine !

conclusion : GAUI X5 is the best 550 size heli !

i will now sell it to take ....another GAUI ( X7....)

Overall Built is very simply and fast. Parts are very competitive in price but most of all it has probably it not the best power the wt ratio heli in the market. Not to mention, you only have to use a 4200 ma 6S1P pack. Pinoy
