For the NEWBIES to the Jamboree:

* Flying is easy to do here. Many people will claim that they never got a chance to fly. It's not because they couldn't, but rather they were too lazy to walk or take a bus to another site. Last year, AMA & IRCHA opened up extra sites on the east side of Site 4. There was also plenty of room to fly at Site 3, as well as Site 5 after the NATS is over.

* It's definitely well worth meeting the 1,000 fellow pilots that will be there. I, personally, have met over 16 people that I stay in touch with constantly that I met through this event.

* You get to see 1 huge fireworks show and night-flying spectacular.

* People from different lands bring different foods. Last year, we met some new friends from Louisiana who brought some alligator meat with and friend it up into nuggets. They were better than any chicken nugget I've ever had.

* You get to learn a lot from the seminars if you're able to schedule it in your time. Many times, you may stumble upon one while you eat lunch or dinner.

* PRIZES!!!! All registered Pilots get raffle tickets for a large prize pot. Many vendors also give away tickets or wristbands for special items. Gaui (The Platinum Vendor) did a special for their Hurricane 425 EP Heli. They were selling 200 kits for only $50 each. Many people, including myself, took advantage. Look for more big surprised from the vendors this year.

* Memories. The most important thing. You will never forget your trip to the Jamboree. The amazing flights, the HUGE wrecks, the blinding night-flying, the late nights, the early mornings, the lightning storms, the night sky, the people that you meet, the people you wish you didn't meet, the huge crowd of people on Fireworks night, and all of the insanity that is the IRCHA Jamboree.

I look forward to meeting even more people this year. Maybe we can see about getting more of our female pilots out there to show us what you got !?!

-- btw.. bring money for yet-to-be released items, crash kits, paint jobs, food, raffles, and pretty much anything else you think you'll need.

Good luck and have fun!

I can't wait! Looks like this year will be our first trip to the event! I've had my eye on it for the past 3 years now, and I'm really looking forward to meeting lots of new people and putting names to faces.

Mr 700. -- Yes, I am excited to hopefully having another SWARM Party this year. Due to an incident last year at the party, however, flying in the vicinity of the event may be prohibited. A pilot lost control over his bird and almost hit some people in the audience that were partying.

Justin -- Yes, these should be the same dates that IRCHA announced a few months ago. Please double check their website to make sure.

Eric -- Glad to see that you'll be joining us this year. It's a great trip. If you're interested in renting a golf cart, as many people do, I suggest getting your reservation in as soon as possible. Same goes if you plan on staying in a hotel.

We did not endorse night flying last year. The accident that occured was not attributed to our party. Since all the flight stations were open, pilots were able to fly where they wanted. No one was hurt, a lesson was learned and we all can move forward with our lives.

This year we will be proactive to help ensure the safety of our attendees. Un-officially, we will shut down the 2 flight stations that will be directly in front of the gathering (as long as IRCHA agrees). If anyone wants to fly, they can do so off to either side while adhering to the field rules.

A good time will be had by all.

Mike is correct. The incident was not directly related to the SWARM party. I'm sure Dave Milner and his IRCHA crew will advise people to fly further away from the event this year. Closing off those 2-3 flight stations in front of the gathering is probably a very smart and safe idea. Good thinking Mike :-)

There is always good food and a great time to be had at the SWARM party. My group also contributed the awesome jambalaya last year. Thanks Timmy for supervising the meal! For those attending, please realize that police are usually in attendance and underage drinking is not allowed. Tickets can be given out by the PD and have done so in the past.

Please be responsible when drinking, and walk or get a ride to the event if possible. That way, you can drink and stay as late as you want with no problems.

Also realize that flying your aircraft while intoxicated voids your AMA insurance and will not cover any damages to anything or anyone.
