I just finished changing the bec voltage to 6v on my Jive 80HV using a program card 2.

There are a few other parameters that one can change...under title RPM control, it appears I can select to have 'smooth + or -' Does this effect the GOV operation, making it more aggressive?? For example (smooth + description says, " governor works softer less work for gyro"

Not sure if these are worth changing?

Also, can the soft start speed be changed, I'd like to quicken it up a bit. I don't see a parameter for it.

Thanks,
Brian

The governor parameters of the Progcard 2 allow you to adjust the "smoothness" and P and I gains of the control loop so you can tweak how aggressively the governor responds to both an instantaneous and sustained change in load.

The "smoothness" parameter seems to alter the maximum rate of change in the governor's throttle output changes to reduce the harshness of tail kicks.

Having fiddled around with P & I gains and smoothness I found the default governor parameters to work the best in terms of maintaining headspeed provided your tail system is up to the task.

As far as start up speed-- that can be changed with Progcard 1, you can select 6, 8, 10, or 12 seconds for spoolup time when using Mode 4 or Mode 11. Default spool time is 12 seconds.

Thanks! Too bad you can't change the start up speed with the 2 card. Seems like they should have included it....when I bought the program 2 card, it was just for the Jive(I thought it was the only card for it, at that time)

I have a friend who has the 1 card, will have to borrow it

I agree, leave the I/P/Smooth parameters normal. I did try them but had to reset to bring them back to default

You can do everything with the ProgDisc-- but it costs twice as much as having both ProgCard 1 and ProgCard 2. As of now with the current Jives the ProgDisc can't do anything more than the ProgCards so I didn't spend the extra money.

Now if you had a Jive, a Koby, and one of the upcoming HeliJive series then having the ProgDisc would make sense as it can do firmware updates on the Koby and is supposed to have additional functionality with the HeliJive series.
