Just picked up the MCPX, when I try and flip it over the tail does not hold - was wondering if I may have too much pitch or cyclic that is causing it or is it just a super weak tail.

Does anyone have some pitch and cyclic # they have setup? 14-15 deg pitch? 11 or 12 cyclic? To me it sounds like too much.

so even if I just hover and stab the collective the tail will rotate probably up to 40 degrees.

whoa- is there a difference in the heli itself? it came with a controller- but I only bought the heli and accessories w/o the controller- then bound to my radio.

Every flip I try and do with mine ends up a piroflip. The only way I can get it inverted is to take it outside and climb about 30 feet in the air and flip it as gently as possible giving as little negative collective as possible dropping 20 feet in the process. Then I can fly around inverted for awhile, and then repeat the same thing to get it back to upright. I have the BNF version.

I have tried bending the tail rotor blades to increase their pitch to see if I could get the tail to hold a little bit better. I wish I could find a way to get the tail to hold a little bit better. It's a great little helicopter, but it's darn hard to get it upside down like the videos.

I installed a new tail boom and I will test it out as soon as the wind dies down.

lower your travel down to 75 for the pitch.

Make sure you are in idle up with 100 percent throttle across the board.

and keep the collective almost mid-stick, close to zero pitch. and then add a little negative pitch when upside down.

it doesn't take much to make make it happen - small inputs.

Perhaps the question I should have asked was, what is your setup??

Mine flips and roll fine. The only time I get blow outs is when I really bog it. My setup is exactly like the manual recommends for a dx7.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Getting there- I lowered the pitch endpoints - did exactly that- waited then let off the cyclic to add collective.. Much much better- rolls are pretty nice. For sure you have to hit it smooth.

Is it better to leave the pitch end points at 100 and lower the dual rate? thats what I did for cyclic's? (14mz spektrum module)

And I dropped it lightly once at lunch and guess what- my intermittant wobble went away- hehe. Must have centered what was out slightly. :-0

BUT- let me tell you my Vrex 500 feels like a 90 now!

It also helped to get out where I had some more room so I could get more used to it.

I bought the RTF version since I fly Futaba and don't have a controller that would work with it. Out of the box it wouldn't flip at all. Turns out that it had way too much negative in it at mid stick. 2 turns out on the links put it so it is 0 at mid stick.

It will now flip and roll just fine and the tail holds well. You can't expect it to sit at a single altitude when you flip it, it'll bog. So goose the collective to get it moving up, and when it starts up go to 0 pitch, flip it over, put some negative in and it holds just fine. I can even do it in my living room, it's a lot of fun.

The bad thing is that mine just threw a grip while hovering inverted in my living room. Pretty scary when that blade went flying by.

I took a closer look at my
Tail blades- then compared them
To the spare- they were slightly warped or bent compared to the spare- totally flat on the inside edge towards the motor. New blades flies 100% better- stab collective and the tail holds!
If in question try a new set!
It's like a new Heli now- like someone upped the gain 20%. totally awesome now

trex 100 tail blade fits

just a note fellas, the trex 100 tail blade will fit the mcpx and is of a firmer materiel that does not flex near as bad. Lasts longer too. From my experience with the Msr and the Mcpx the tail blade is rather flimsy and will flatten out after a good bit of usage.

Do you have a part number for the Align tail blade?

My "B" blade grips arrived in the mail today. Happy about that.

I am believing mine mist have gotten bent in the package since the first flight it would not hold on collective climbs. Not having flown one before I had no idea it would hold like it is now.

And on the main grips 'issue' I was told by my LHS to remove the blades and be sure the copper color of the bearing cage was outwards towards the blades and also use some locktite on the screw- did that today also as well as a bit of lube on the bearings..

Just a hint- if you do this dont do it over carpet.. Dang bits are soooooo tiny :-)

trex 100 tail blade part number 10T004, works extremely well, holds the tail firmer, does not flatten out when tail motor rpms go high, and lasts much longer.

Just tried the TREX 100 tail blades- much stiffer- for me the stock ones flew smoother and held as well or better. I'll run stock for now..
