I wonder if it is going to hurt more than a BB gun would.

I believe those shot a 22 size bullet, and even though they are small rounds a 22 can do alot more damage at times than a 45. Big bullets go in one side and out the other, smaller bullets stay inside and ricochet around, I knew a guy that got shot in the leg with a 22 and it split his bones in about 4 different places on top of all the muscle damage it did. Even he said he wish they had shot him with a big caliber.

this is an old wives tale/urban legend.

it is not typically the pierce injury that causes death (with exceptions being major arteries/heart/etc). it is impact force. a 200+ grain 45 load does massive internal damage to a target because it is exactly like taking a full swing to the chest with a sledgehammer. Small vessels are sheared, ligaments supporting organs are sheared, lungs are bruised and fill with blood, etc etc etc.

In fact, the reason why nato rounds are small caliber is because it is better from a logistical standpoint in a war to wound the enemy rather than kill the enemy (one wounded combatant takes several people to care for, vs a lost combatant who requires zero care).

Tell that to my old buddy that was a hard core gang banger and has been shot many times with different types of bullets. Most of his shootings were at close range which meant that the bigger caliber bullets went right through, he did get lucky that he never got hit in a major organ. But he had been shot in the legs, arms, jaws, and other various places, so I will stick with what I know first hand.

But every shooting is different and I personally feel we are both correct, it all depends on the situation.

That is good for stopping someone charging at you, but not if i shot you with a 45 full metal jacketed bullet vs a 9mm hollw point in the chest, you would be more likly to survie the 45 and not the hollow point.

If you look at manufacures of hollow points they are made to stop and kill. I am not saying you won't die from a 45, but if it hits nothing you probably will be fine after a trip to the hospital. But a hollow point tears and breaks up and it acts like srap metal. And from a surgury stand point hollw points are hard to remove, expecially if they break apart. Usuly a person will bleed out in a short time with a hollow point.

The point is there is a tool for a job. Now you can get 45 caliber hollow points.
In fact, the reason why nato rounds are small caliber is because it is better from a logistical standpoint in a war to wound the enemy rather than kill the enemy (one wounded combatant takes several people to care for, vs a lost combatant who requires zero care).
Nato caries small rounds so they can carry more rounds with out being weighted down. This is the same thought that was given when the USA went to the M16 in Veitnam. Also Nato dose not allow hollow point bullets or shot guns to be used for shooting at people. Shot guns can be used for breaching doors. Nato reasoning is they beleive hollow point round and shot guns are inhumane.

This is my "palm size" 32 cal pistol, and it holds 7 rounds, (I only carry 5 to reduce magazine spring fatigue).
.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?
