This is for the guys who want enough battery to Auto in if there should be problem with flight power/BEC.
First I only tested this on 2 FBL setups all using HV80 esc and bec.
#1 Futaba BLS 253 cyclic and BLS 251 tail with Futaba GY750 FBL what a super efficient setup . With BEC set @ 5.6 and using 4.8 NiMH 125mah pack will run the setup for about 1 minute.. Battery pack weights 12 grams. Tested on Fusion 50 ,Trex 700,Avant 90. Tested on bench holding pressure on the blades from moving easily.
#2 JR 8717's on cyclic and Outrage BL 9188 with Skookum 720 . First the Sk720 does not like voltage under 5 volts. So I'm running BEC at 6 volts but with 4.8v 125 mah pack and Fromeco DC-UP cricket last about 15 second before servo response slowed down. I have ordered 6.0 NiMH 180mah pack (around 20g) which should be good for full minute. The Cricket by itself is only good for 1 to 2 seconds but keeps voltage very even in flight. I can check this though Sk720 replay. Tested on Trex 700 and Fusion 50..
Understand this is only to have enough power to auto in if you lose power to motor. I don't know about anyone else but when I've lost power it's amazing how fast i can Auto my heli in..
The battery were ordered from cheapbatterypacks.com . We did test on 4.8 125mah battery on first charge they charged up to 5.9v and 165mah. Then when load tested drop to 5.2v..
One thing I learned from this is how efficient the BLS servo really are..
I receive the 180mah 5 cell 6v pack wieght in @ 24.5 grams on my 700n with SK720 and 8717's and 9188 . Battery first charge was at 220mah 6.9v . Now after doing a full flight and unplugging the 12s packs I was able to run my electronic for full minute before showing any sign of slowing down. So if i lose BEC power should have not problem Autoing in.
