Very nice Piyaphan. What battery and what motor pinion are you using?

Hi kcgraves,

I use the Tunigy nano-tech 2650mAh 6S 35-70C and 16 pinion gear.
What size of tail blades are you using on your Lepton?
Do you change the gear ratio of the tail blades?

Hi Piyaphan,

Thanks for the info. Right now I'm using KBDD 70mm blades on both. One stretch and one not. Both have 13T tail gears. Waiting for winter to be over to get them back in the air. I'm currently running Turnigy 3600mAh 30C 4S batteries with 24T pinion and the Hyperion 3025-10. But always looking at what others are doing to their Leptons.

What tail blades (size) are you using there? And do you have that Hirobo part number for them as well?
Sweet bird. I run on 5S. Charging now

@kcgraves
Thank you for your info. as well. Could you tell me where I could get the 13T tail gears? I also has one pair of KBDD70mm in stock. They came in 3mm hole so I just keep them aside for now. I've just ordered the RJX 68mm CF Tail Blades to try on.

Doese the stretch one gives a better tail authority?
Which one do you prefer?

@Mike0251
The Hirobo tail blades are 64mm and the part no. is 0304-668

I'm also waiting for the airbrush canopy from MaskPro.

Thanks for the info on the blades. KC and I just finished a whole tail gear thread with a lots of info. See page two of this thread:
https://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t626102p2/
As for the extra boom length, a bit more control, but a whole bunch of better looks! The stretch is approx 1.5" (500mm boom).

I also has the stretch boom. Looks really good but the carbon fin is too thin for my liking. Never get to try the standard one.
I'm serching for the MJP Stretched Carbon Fins set For Lepton EX. Do you know where I could get one?

I will check out your thread on the tail. Thank you very much.

I think MJP is out of business. Nobody has any new stock. I have also heard they moved but again can't find anything new from them and their web site is gone. Too bad.

Readyheli has a vertical fin on their web site, I bought one but haven't used it yet. It is thicker than the MJP one and is missing two holes which are easy to drill, or use washers to make standoffs.
http://www.readyheli.com/CHP-L021-C...ly_p_32305.html

I got the tail pulleys at Helidirect.com. They are for the HDX 500. They are a little wider than the stock Hirobo plastic one so you either have to mill them down a little or change the tail housing side frames to the ones for the HDX. More info with links to the parts is in the thread Mike mentioned.

The KBDD tail blades I have are 2mm hole with a 4mm root. KBDD makes two different root sizes 4mm and 5mm in a 70mm tail blade. Have to make sure you get the 4mm root ones. Readyheli has both, the 4mm ones will say for MSH Protos and Compass Atom.

Here is a pic of the length difference between the standard boom (yellow) and stretch boom (orange).

And the big question. Did you have to modify your slots (extend) to use a 16 tooth gear? How many bolts are you using to secure the motor?

I plan to mill the pinion down to fit the standard tail unit. There are 4 bolts holding the motor.

I think what Mike is asking is did you have to modify the motor mount slots to get the 16T pinion to mesh with the main gear? What 16T pinion did you use?

Yes Keith exactly. I don't think the motor can slide far enough forward to use that small of a pinion. These are the slots in the magnesium frame piece. Find out soon enough as I will be using a 18/20 tooth on the next Lepton I'm building.

I extended the slots forward by using the files. Perfect meshing. Got the harden pinion from Readyheli.

Glad to see some action around here again.

I think there is a guy on e-bay selling a good bit of MJP CF fins, and what not. You might check.

I really miss my Lepton. It was a extremly stable flyer, while it was blazing across the field. Very fast machine.

I'm still waiting on the right deal to pass my way, and Im going to eat it up.

My stretched carbon fin is on the way from Readyheli. Got the RJX 68mm but they have 3mm holes. Will have to find the collars with 2mm holes. I guess the performance is pretty much the same with Hirobo's 64mm blades.

What head speed are you guys running? I'm setting my at 2950.

The ones on Ebay are made by BF Carbon not MJP.
http://www.bfcarbon.com/lepton

They are thicker than the MJP ones.

Piyaphan, I run a little over 2600 RPM head speed on mine. No 3D stuff.
