Getting ready to maiden my F6 and wonder if anyone else has about 1mm of vertical play on the main gear.

Also, should I expect to see some white dust after the initial run?

I am using the 12t pinion and ran a piece of printer paper through the main and pinion gears when setting the mesh.

Thanks for the tips.

The one way bearing actually needs to rise up a little as it engages the main shaft. It is by design.

I have about 6 flights on the heli so far. I really, really, really sense great potential.

How long does the white gear dust continue to shed? I get more every flight.

I had to tighten the tail belt after the fourth flight. I like the boom clamp design, as it allows three screws from the top side of the helicopter to be loosened, tension adjusted, and three screws tightened again... simple, fast, and effective.

My initial plan of using the 12T pinion and 500kv motor did provide very smooth flying at low headspeed, but the antirotation pin from the swash rubbed the spinning can of my pretty new outrunner. How disappointing to have scratch marks all over my motor after the first flight. Installing the 13T allowed a little more motor clearance and picked up the headspeed noticeably.

Flight times of 5 minutes are taking about 60% out of my 5000mah 10s packs. In warmer weather I am hoping to see 7 minute flights.

The heli tracks wonderfully. I am using Airtronics 94910 high torque HV servos on a 2s lipo direct. These servos are rated around 285 ounces of torque. The direct swash linkage is great. 300mah is the average draw from the flight pack. I am using an 850mah 25c lipo. I recharge this each time I charge the main flight packs, or I wait until I can parallel charge four of them at once.

One of the nicest touches to this helicopter is the servo alignment tool. I have always struggled with perfectly centering eccpm servos. Combining this tool with a swash plate leveling tool and quality radio software I was able to quickly achieve a well mannered swash (at least for my level of flying).

Auto rotations are very nice with G5 620 wide chord blades. I am running a flybar still.

Keeping my paddles aligned has been a problem. I never did like simple screw on plastic paddles. I might try a different style paddle if I have something on hand.

I added a little more expo than normal because of the immediate power the servos have and the quick response of the mechanics. This yields a very smooth and predictable manner with plenty of cyclic when I want it.

My pitch is set +10/-10. I am pleased with this range in cold dense air. I might increase this as the weather warms up and my batteries get broken in.
