Hi all, I recently received my 8FG and spent an hour playing with the programming today. I must say that I love the radio, the features, and as a technical person, I even love the programming I love how every little feature and bell and whistle is completely adjustable by the user. Anyway, I think I will enjoy this radio quite a bit.

I do have a quick poll type question. I imagine most are using the SG 3-position switch for their throttle hold. Have any of you used the spring loaded SH for throttle hold? I programmed it nicely so that you flick the switch to enable throttle hold, flick it again to disable. Also the timer is tied into it. My one issue is that this particular switch may be easy to accidentally trigger since it doesnt take much pressure to flick it I havent flown with it this way as of yet, and may just switch to SG and get used to the front switch being throttle hold, but I wanted to hear from other users if they have tried using the SH switch, just for fun

Thanks, Jim

I use SG. How did you program SH for throttle hold like you did. I think I'd like to use it this way.

Set it as a logic switch instead of a single in the Condition, then set both sides of the logic to the SH switch, with the alternate option set to ON for both sides of the logic function. Also, I have the timer set to the same switch so that whenever I am in hold the timer pauses, runs in all other modes.

I use Sg and just program it so both positions activate hold when I pull it forward.

I went to the SG switch for now as I want to get some flights in and see where I end up resting my fingers with this radio, if my fingers don't appear to be too close to the SH switch, I will probably re-program it for hold

I got some flights in yesterday really quick at a nearby field since I had no time for a trip to the flying field. This radio is great; it , combined with the VBar 5.1 setup on my Logo 500, resulted in an amazing, connected helicopter for me yesterday. I am going to really enjoy flying with the 8FG. Now I just need to offload some work so I can actually fly a whole Saturday at the field.

Transmitter surgery makes me go
I just got used to throttle hold being on the left, even after 4 years of a DX7. It just takes some practice - not worth clipping and trimming your new transmitter, IMO.

That's the nice thing about the 8FG, you can assign any function to any switch.

To aid in a panic situation I programmed switch F and G for throttle hold. F closes the the throttle only unlike G which is the proper throttle hold flight mode.
