Trying to decide which Kontronik speed controller to purchase after my Castle Creations HV160 caught fire (check my other thread) from brand new! Should have gone for Kontronik in the first place. I'm building a Vario EC 145 with the Vario X-treme mechanics converted to electric. I'm using a Scorpion 4035 400kv motor on 12s lipo setup with 4 bladed head. Which Kontronik should I choose? Will the 80 be enough or should I go overkill and buy the 120? The motor is rated at 78 max continuos amps.

I'm guessing the extra weight of the scale body and mechanics will put more load on the motor thus making it pull more amps even in a simple hover. I could be wrong, just a theory.

I would say go with the 120 to be safe.
