I don't fly my Rappy50 with any expo in it but finding my e325 a bit squirly. Do you normaly put a little expo into your set-up?

I think less expo makes 3D easier, and more expo makes FAI easier.

Totally personal preference, I use expo on every heli.
Set it up on the dual rates so you can turn it on and off, then it is easy to see if you like it.

I use different amounts of expo for my heli's. It's not a big difference but I do use it to get them to all feel the same.

I prefer it on the rudder. Helps to keep me from drifting the tail when playing with collective.

blade 400 expo

I did find it was a lot easier for me to control when I was learning to fly my blade 400 with 30% expo in the settings. That was a personal decision for me. It helped me learn a little quicker. Thanks for reading this. Dougly

Yes when I was first learning to hover I used a bunch of expo to smooth out the controls to make it easier to keep the heli in one place without too much overcorrection. As I learned I would gradually lower the amount of expo until I feel confident in the way the heli feels while I fly it. I still do use some expo but not as much as when I first started.

It basically boils down to how close to center stick do you want your control. I like to fly with minimal stick movement, so I usually fly 5% expo for normal flight, then when I switch my dual rate from 7deg. to 9deg. of cyclic I fly 0% expo, this way I can do stationary tricks with minimal stick travel.

Its just a matter of preference, its always a good idea to start with some expo, remember not to exceed 25% on a 120deg swash, I have seen as high as 45% on a 90deg. swash. It helps with the shakes when you first start flying. It also takes some time to get a delicate touch on the sticks so you can feel the centers, and also develop some muscle memory.

Pretty much a "season to taste" sort of thing. I have expo on all of my helis, but it depends on how much cyclic pitch you have set up and what kind of flying you want to do. But definitely if it feel too squirrelly, then try adding some expo and see how it feels.
