At fieldwoth brand new DX8 on a trex 600 ,had many hover flights with no issues . Decided to do circuts and about 10 yards out crash . Looked over Heli nothing seemed wrong so walked away maybe 20 feet and it happened ,FAILSAFE !!! Glad I used my 12X on my turbines .

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

I did see a report of someone who had the antenna connection not connected inside the DX8. Might be something worth looking at though opening up the DX8 is a pain.

Hate to say this but we should range check our equipment before the first flight. I don't always do that but I know I should.

I like the DX8, but these reports of spontaneous unexplained failures makes me want to hang onto my 12X for awhile.

to trust or not

hello
I have been flying with the dx8 and I have one of the first dx8's that came out...flew it last fall and again for 2 gallons on a holiday in the us. I am setting up a raptor 50se and will use dx8 and telemetry in that heli....when my engine is broke in on my trex 600 i will switch over to the dx8 from my dx 7.... i had a 50se go in last year and it took a bit of time to find a solder wire that was the issue,,,this was setup with my dx7,,so many things happened and i wanted it to not be my fault,,it was the servos the gyro and in the end i soldered a piece wrong.......I trust the dx8 completely...just my thoughts

Do you range check with your x9303,x9503,11x or 12x everytime you fly. I don't and wouldn't want to if I owned a DX8 either. I've owned all the above except the 12X and currently flying x9503 no issue ever.
I made a post asking about the DX8 for a buddy to buy or not and man I don't know with everyone talking about these crashes. Starting to think to stick with JR

I gotta say, as a new DX8 owner, I am worried also. Especially after 2 of my models lost bind after progamming them today. No warm fuzzies here. I'm going to fly some smaller foamies and such before I ever trust this thing to my heli's.

And I will miss the 9303 software.. so i'm gonna keep it around for awhile just in case I change my mind.

I've heard of others loosing bind though it hasn't happened to me. When I bind I keep the TX at least 3 feet away and I hold the bind button on the DX8 down all the way through the process to include where the TX resets.

So found out today after yet another lost bind at the field, I had software version 1.04!!!!!!!!! Downloaded the latest, rebound all 7 aircraft and bam! Fixed. I do have to say, the 2048/11ms stuff is FAST and shows all my little mistakes! I am very impressed with the speed and "locked in" feeling. Also, the flight log, RPM, Temp, batt voltage features are VERY handy!

So, as long as you have the correct software (and know how to find it), and the recall has been done on your DX-8 you should be safe. I still miss the software from the 9303... Oh well, can't have it all right.

I got me the DX8 a month ago... a keeper for me at least... feels great, tele is awesome... I don't need a tach anymore... simply use my radio to calculate headspeed...

there's a gear ratio setting on the radio so I just linked up a wire from my spektrum rpm backplate sensor to the tele and my rmp reading gets calculated... its brilliant, plus I like monitoring my battery levels and engine temp on radio...

both gyro and governor menus make it so simple now... I had to mix with my DX7 to get governor working for 3 headspeeds... I like the rubber feel in my hands too... I bought one from the second bunch sent to South-Africa...

I simply updated to v2.01 airware, no bugs found as yet... sure there's plenty I want extra for instance, but spektrum tech are monitoring these forums for suggestions... so in the next update I expect some changes

I haven't picked up any bugs yet as mentioned on many sites... only thing it needs more is channels! if spektrum were to include this in next software update, sales of the DX8 will increase for sure...

great looks, great features, great feel... I give it a 8/10

I don't fly a DX8 but a number of our club members do and they have had a number of unusual happenings. One had a three position fall in to the TX , he turned upside down and switch fell back into place - except now it was a two position switch. Another had a slow creep in the aileron setting - he could recenter by circling the stick rapidly and shortly there after it would creep again as much as 13 degrees. Others are reporting unusual responses but I have no details.

The two above were sent back to Horizon and returned very quickly. The support so far has been very good. Just too bad that it seems as if we are doing the beta testing for them. My DX8 purchase is on hold until Version 3 is released.

spectrum radio work fine out of the box for an unknown reason the receiver stop working i just check a receiver ar 7100 today
it was stored for winter working perfectly never crash i bind the receiver (using a li on 2600 mah and a Arizona regulator at 5.1 volt)same setting that i use last fall(that receiver was send to horizon for firmware upgrade last year)

the satellite would not bind after a second bind attempt receiver and satellite are blinking and the lights are slowly dimming

stay away from spectrum they are dangerous you never know when its gonna failed

hobby king turnigy 9 channels radio at 59 box have less issue (i am not planning to use hk radio but i think i would have less issue with it)i just sent an e mail to spectrum asking them to refund my money claiming that their radio are dangerous and i wont fly whit it its a lot of money to be an alpha tester
