Ok those of you who have it and have flown it what do you think?
what feels different? better? worse? snappier? more locked in?

I know the screen is different- I just want to know how does it fly if any different.

Thanks,
Steve

First person to probably try it was Al here, from his post..
Alright guys, just got back after putting in 4 flights with 5.1. The update process was extremely easy, no problems there.

The new software had the Paddle simulation value set to 20 as default. I did not touch any of my existing settings other than just turning the main rotor optimizer back on. I mainly wanted to see how the cyclic felt after the update, so I have not yet setup the new governor feature.

First flight, I IMMEDIATELY noticed a significant difference on how the machine responded to sharp and rapid cyclic inputs, especially on the elevator. I've always felt that the response between the aileron versus the elevator on the V-Bar to be rather unbalanced. Compared to how my X5 flew with the stock flybarred head, the V-Bar could never "track" rapid elevator stick movements as well as it could with aileron. The elevator would feel a little "mushy" around center, while the aileron felt fairly "sharp". This feeling has mostly been done away with, and the elevator doesn't feel nearly as disconnected to my stick inputs as it had previously. I'd say before the 5.1 update, the Microbeast performed better than the V-Bar in this area, but now I think the V-Bar steps it up a notch or two.

On the second flight I increased the Paddle simulation value up to 40 and I must say, the cyclic feel is INFINITELY more natural now then it was on 5.0. "Smack" style flying was very comfortable, probably the best I've flown on a FBL system. Cyclic performance during pirouetting maneuvers is INCREDIBLE. I tried some pirouetting-flips, and pirouetting tic-tocs and I can honestly say that cyclic timing now feels "just like a flybar". Standard tics-tocs are also much improved, with the elevator no longer feeling slightly behind my inputs.

For the third and fourth flights I put my good set of packs in the X5 and proceeded to BEAT the heli. For my style of flying, I could not pick out any odd tendencies, be it during low and hard smack type flying, or fast and smooth big-air type flying. One thing I should note is that it was mildly windy this evening but, with that said, the V-Bar had no issues holding the X5's attitude during all aspects of flight.

Overall, 5.1 is a HUGE step forward for the V-BAR. I'm extremely picky with how my machines feel, and I am excited to see that Mikado has listened to us "paddle" fliers, and given us the tools to tweak the V-BAR to the kind of response we've come to expect.

I flew it for a few minutes today, and you can feel the stick response has improved. I set it to 40 on paddle simulation, and on tic tocs you can feel the difference. The governor worked out great after realizing I made a mistake on setup. I had written down what I wanted and was looking for all possible configurations and didn’t set one option back. In the Live view my response was requested 0rpm’s on idle 2 and 2100 on normal stick down. This was from the option in GOV I “preset channel from receiver” I had accidently selected CH7 when it’s supposed to be 1 for my Spektrum Radio.
My second flight had a lot of power, I can definitely tell there is an increase in power using this Gov. It feels as if its anticipating my next move. Unlike traditional governors that detect Rpm loss and then correct. Very nicely done Mikado

I've got a question here. If you put on your external receiver, your Throttle channel from the rx is linked with the V-bar aux channel.

In this case can you use your governor menu like other governors which are linked with your Thottle as well as your gear channel?

Apart this what is the difference between using your Channel 4 or Servo Channel on the V-bar for your thorttle servo?

Yes and no, since you only have ONE channel, half of it goes to "stick control" meaning you can set ATV for throttle cut, hold (idle) and spoolup"

Other half goes to governor, meaning each % has a fixed headspeed.

No difference, like I explained in my videos, it's because VBar need to support various setups, it need the different ports (an electric setup with BEC cannot use Servo port)
