So I had my first FBL trim flight this evening and "Oh Muh Gawd" it was awesome! I don't know why, but I was more excited about this than when I got my first 500 (Only a few short months ago)!

First thoughts are that I need to slow down the collective and cyclic sensitivity for my skill level (thinking about adjusting expo, any thoughts?), and secondly, I need to get more batteries!

My setup is as follows:
Logo 5003D w/25mm tail boom conversion
Edge 553mm FBL Mains with 92mm on tail
Scorpion HK-4020-1100
Castle ICE 75 @ 6S 5000mah
WR Super Hercules BEC
Spektrum H6040 Cyclics
Mini VBar (Blue Line) 5.0 w/Express and S9256

Hopefully this weekend I can actually take it out and fly it (It's 75 here in south Alabama, just thought I'd rub that in to you northerners) and I'll get back to you guys with questions I'm sure.

I'd like to take a sec and point out that MrMel's video's were a spectacular learning tool! I'm completely new to FBL and these videos were invaluable.

Most of the time, I can be seen having more ambition than skill.

well, what i generally do i slowly up my main rotor gain 2-3 points at a time until you get a little "wag" on the head in high speed flight, then back off a bit. this will lock the heli in as much as possible, just like optimizing a tail gyro's gain. then, i'll usually run the optimizers for a couple fights, then set my exponential and rates for the cyclic to get the feel i like.

as far as collective sensitivity, you can either lower your headspeed a bit, lower your pitch a bit, or play with your pitch curve to smooth it out where it feels to "poppy", or a combination of all 3.

Welcome to flybarless!

Or better yet upgrade your vbar to Pro and adjust the "agility" setting. I found tuning that slightly found the perfect amount of cyclic response for my flying style.

Nice setup.....BUT

Id keep a close eye on your castle ICE logs for current draw with that motor....my first Logo was a ICE100 with that motor and was typically pulling over 100A several times during the flight....

100 amps on that esc should be fine. I was occasionally pulling close to 100 amps on a ice 50 on a 6S logo 400, no issues.
