If my transmitter blows over on the TX stand, my clean up rag blows away, and my coke blows over it's time to pack it in.

haha that picture is awesome!! Personally, i can comfortably go up to maybe 20MPH, but if it's much more than that i won't do much more than hovering. If it's 30MPH+ though, IMO it's a great way to practice control

I live in Wellington NZ (the windiest city in the world) and we sometimes fly in winds hitting 40kmh. You just hover at 45 degrees It is not a huge amount of fun

Just for fun I dialed in 30 mph winds with variable gusts on my Realflight. I have played with wind before obviously, I always sim with at least 5 mph dialed in, but never 30. Never saw the point and now I know why. I use a Synergy N9 on there because it feels the closest to my Raptor, if you can believe that. Anyway, all I can say is OMG. If some of you guys are really flying in that, my hat is off. Once in the air it was basically blown away by the wind. I could barely get it to come back and the gusts would toss it way in the air or slam it towards the ground. Not even close to being fun, let alone even reasonable. As I dialed the wind down, it pretty much mirrored my real life experience of what I feel is still fun, up to but not much above 10 mph. Up to 15 it was doable, but I'd rather be BSing with the guys than fighting with a helicopter in that. Guess we all have our own versions of fun.

When it's not fun for you cause the wind is blowing your heli all over the place and you are feeling uncomfortable then the wind is to strong pack it in and call it a day.
Try again another day before you crash it.

I'll fly my 500 (Trex) in 12-15 mph with 20 mph gusts, but it's not fun. My 700E goes up in 15-20 mph with gusts to 25 or 30. It cares a lot less.

Mass is good.

Today we had 50+ mph gusts with 28-30 mph steady winds. That was too much.

Yep, all day it's been this way around the DC area. There have been large, nasty brush fires everywhere too. I-95 got closed in two places for multiple hours due to smoke and fire. Homes were even evacuated in other areas. All the area firefighters were working very hard today.

Hopefully I can get out tomorrow. I've charged up.

I liked your flying in the wind. My 500 behaves exactly the same.

Around here if you wait for the perfect wind conditions you wouldn't fly much. We fly 50 and 90 sized machine in anything less than 25mph. Yes sometimes the gust are not too much fun, and sometimes you are forcing the heli through turns and stuff, but its flying!! Fly with what you're comfortable in, and sometimes you have to push yourself a bit. But I know those little heli's don't like too much wind at all. And you need stunt mode to bring them down!

What is a "lot" of wind depends on where you live.
While to some that live in calm areas a 10 mph wind is almost unflyable.
other places like here, the wind is rarely ever below 10mph. here the noobs with training wheels can handle 10+ wind.
