A winning combination!!

It takes a both a willing Contest Director and an eager Competitor to create a successful event. With this winning combination of competition and organization, our hobby has begun to see a renewed interest in precision competition. As local and regional competitions are the cornerstone of our hobby, IRCHA would like to help support the club level competition circuit with an exciting new program called the 50 In 50 Challenge. IRCHA would like to promote the hosting of 50 local precision competitions spread across the entire USA. In order to support this program, from January 1, 2011 until July 31, 2011, any precision helicopter competition that is sanctioned in the USA shall be eligible for a reimbursement of their event sanction fees that have been paid to the AMA. In order to qualify for this reimbursement, the contest director must submit a copy of the event sanction, and event participation list to IRCHA. Event sanction fee reimbursement is only for actual fees paid to AMA for sanctioning.

Along with reimbursement of the event sanction fees, IRCHA would also like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication by both the event director and the competitors of precision helicopter competition. During the 2011 AMA NATS, IRCHA will award one contest director and one pilot a free hotel stay from August 7-10 2011 in Muncie, IN. All contest directors who submit a request for event sanction fee reimbursement will be eligible to win. On August 1, a special drawing will be held of all eligible participants*, one lucky Contest director and Pilot will win a free hotel stay during the AMA Helicopter NATS. The hotel will be chosen by IRCHA. The “prize” is non transferable, and contains no monetary value. If the winner is attending the F3C World Championship competition, the prize may be used during the 2012 US NATS.

We encourage each of you to participate in the precision competition side of our hobby. Smooth, graceful maneuvers can be complex and challenging to master, but the beauty of this style of flight is an incredible achievement.

*Eligible Contest Directors must have hosted a precision helicopter contest anytime between January 1, 2011 and July 31, 2011 and have completed the IRCHA Sanction Fee reimbursement program.

*Eligible Precision Competition Pilots must have competed in at least one precision competition between January 1, 2011 and July 31, 2011. To be eligible, the pilot must have competed in a competition in which the contest director has completed the IRCHA Sanction Fee reimbursement program. All names submitted by the contest directors during the sanction fee reimbursement program will be eligible for the drawing.

It's good to see IRCHA getting involved on the local level. We'll be looking at this for the Wooster, OH contest.

I think it's a great idea and can only be a benefit for precision and competition flying in general.

I'll go out on a limb and offer anyone that is thinking about hosting a contest to contact me. Contests are a little different then Fun Fly's and there is a different "recipe" for success.

There are several "seasoned" CD's that can help get you the "short list" of things you need to have and do.
