10 years from now there will be young pilots who have never even seen a flybar.
And if you had been in this hobby over 10 years ago, you would have remembered saying: "I am so glad they did away with that "flybarless system"

It was GMP or Hirobo who did flybarless first back in day!

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

So i'm in a hobby shop yesterday that carries an ample supply of heli parts . I ask the meathead behind the counter if he has any vbar systems on hand
Vbar is exclusively sold by ready heli in the US so your LHS could not have had them for sale anyway. Maybe you were referring to all FBL systems as Vbar? Kind of how all copy machines became known a Xerox machines for a while. Funny how that happens.

I have never flown a FBL system, but the electronics have to be 10,000 times better than 10+ years ago.

But back to the topic. In this time of our great hobby of Rc helis the FBL systems are exploding and for a hobby shop to say its just a trend while there is money to be made on them is stupid for business IMO! They need to learn about the systems and at least offer them to customers through ordering online, because buying from a LHS is always a good thing.

It may be a trend, but I doubt it. I would love to try one.

That meathead probably doesnt own the business, that's why. Trend or not that's where the money is right now.

I bet you can't top my LHS!! The owner of my LHS once argued with me over the topic of if it's even legal to fly RC aircraft!! He truly believe that it is the state law to ban all RC aircraft in California, I'm risking having my heli confiscated when I fly in any public land. The only place where RC aircraft is allow is in a AMA club field or private land.

Isn't there a handful on here doing the fbl head with no electronics?
Wouldn't mind trying it but don't think it would make me smile any.

Nope, its much easier than most think.
Knowing how to fly makes it a lot easier.

I'm one of them. Ya never know, it could bring a grin from ear to ear.

I'm lucky, my lhs keeps up with the times. CGY750 and BeastX are the fbl systems carried there.
I think the original hobby shop guy was right. FBL IS a fad! Watch them go away just like 3D TV's.
You should be working there.
Its been a 2 year fad for me. I'll never go back to the wire flier.

Hah...if you were talking about any other state, I would agree with you.

California...it wouldn't surprise me.

While some HTUSA franchises are OK, they are truly the exception and not the rule. I have been to several across the country, and they remain my last choice in seeking out any support.

BTW, one exception is the HT in north Tampa. That place used to be a dive, but has really turned around. I would recommend that shop for basic E-flite type parts support and general RC tools, electronics, and hardware.

I fly all over the country for work, and when I am sitting around I will usually borrow a crew car, seek out and drive to the local hobby shops. The hobbytowns in general are not geared toward high end helicopter inventory, I have been to well over a dozen of them. The staff are usually "meatheads" lol that don't know much if anything about the RC heli world.

I have been to many many other types of hobby shops, all over this country and some others, and I gotta say, two of the best I have seen are right in my home state of NH. Knowledgeable staff and great inventory.

I still want to visit, Heliproz in MT, Readyheli in Jupiter FL, Hobby Hut in PA, Powerhelis in TX, just havent flown to within a 45 min drive.

Tried to visit Experience RC in MI and got blown off, and I was going to buy a 3G kit too!

MrNiceGuy is correct about VBar.

Not all HobbyTowns are bad. The closest one to me has what the public wants. He gets his stuff thru GP and HH, but will order anything you want.

I'll agree all Hobby Towns aren't bad , but most are . I wasn't in a Hobby Town and the guy I spoke with is the owner i'm sure because i've dealt with him in the past . Not wanting to turn this into a hobby shop bashing post . However I think those not wanting to challenge the future of our hobby will be left behind .

That's exceptable but our biggest deal also is location. Our store follows what our public wants not just the best of the best. Down south atleast my area, isn't into helis and 90% of the customers jaws drop when the see my 50 on the counter much less the 90. I think the store still yet again depends on owner and location. While I can't vouch for employees I can vouch for owners

Well, at least he knew what a vbar and FBL was.
