hey guys... with my gyro (GP780) it didn't matter whether I used a more inner hole on servo horn or very last one on my gain... both I ended up having to set to 63% on my gyro sense menu (DX7) till wagging stopped (HH mode)... this is my problem... by using an inner hole (10mm center of servo to ball) I am suppose to get higher gain... but it ends up being the same... what to do or try?

Interesting....I kind of had the same problem with mine. It seems to hold fine and I have no tail wag.

is where I mounted it of any concerns? its mounted in front of the heli and not on tail side, cause I didn't have extension lead at the time... I don't have vibrations I can see with the eye... heli is very stable in hover...

here is a vid, still learning so dont judge

Doesn't matter what the % number is in your TX, as long as the tail is holding and not wagging.

Another thing, I think you are way past the training balls stage!

Are you sure you're using the DX7 gyro sense menu correctly?

jip... at input select for Gear, I have Gyro selected... the tail holds, so I am not gonna bother further... but I am losing out on a bit... have mailed for help from "Heliproz, Rick" also... they get up to about 67% on some machines with the GP780... is %4 gonna make a big diff? what can I try?

edit:
I have to get rid of landing gear... that extra weight could be an influence... it makes the heli stable though, gonna be touchy once they off

You'll probably find the heli more stable with them off.

4% ain't going to make a difference really.

Im confused now, you turn the gain down and the wagging stops and your tail is still holding fine? Whats the problem?

no need for confusion... I was looking in to much at other guys stats... the max that "Heliproz" guys get from Trex-600 nitro and GP780 is 67% (on the gyro sense menu)... I thought I am a bit off... but it doesn't seem that way... also because the manual suggests between 70-80%... but suppose it differs from heli to heli...

the confusion came when I used more inner hole on the tail servo horn, theoretically I was suppose to get more gain... I was using most outside hole so little movement on rudder gave huge tail travel movement... swapped to the inner hole so more movement is needed on servo to get me max travel...

so I was hoping to get more gain by doing so... there was no change, both times it ends up at 63%... so I thought I was doing something wrong...

I think the 4 pointed Futaba/Align servo wheel on the second hole in from the end is the best and is what most people use, I think it is 13.5mm.

Excess vibration can also cause wagging but more of a random twitching, this can heat the tail servo up and reduce its performance resulting in a wagging tail.

the manual on the DS650 + GP780 combo suggests 10mm... I have done it like that... just a guess I would say 1800... I haven't tached or anything as yet... getting my governor tomorrow, then I will feel the necessity to tach it to get it working spot on...

I have no wagging or twitching... I just thought I was under performing the gyro not getting closer to 70% gain... but as I have read and hear many say, if the tail holds with no wagging or twitching there's no reason for worry...

here is a vid... (only starting flying now, don't judge )

I like to tell how locked in my tail is by doing piroettes and seeing how sharply the heli stops, if it stops softly ill increase the gain, if it bounces badly ill turn it down.

I will keep that in mind... thanks... I haven't really done a pirouette yet, but once I do I will take a look and pay attention...

If you're not doing piro's yet, then don't worry about "optimum performance", like we told you, if the tail is holding you're fine.

Running more gain than you need just heats up the servo with no benefit.

will start doing some when gear is off only... the balls make it unstable when just turning heli around...
