My friend's Jetcat PHT3 seems to have developed a mind of its own. When he turns the power on with the TX switched off it begins the start sequence. Normally it's started from the TX.

The RX is a Spektrum 2.4ghz type.

Any thoughts on what would cause this? It appears to be a recent phenomenon.

Thanks

Geoff

I had a similar problem with a futaba 7c-2.4 gHz and a Wren. When you switch the transmitter on you have to toggle the throttle-cut switch straight away to activate it otherwise the engine is in the ready to start condition when you switch on the transmitter.I found out this when the turbine started on the kitchen table!

My first comment would be - why is the power being turned on before the transmitter ?

If the teach r/c set-up has been done correctly, the ECU will be looking for a pulse position to know where it is - no signal - what should it do?

I would completely check the set up before going any further.

Modtron,

Normally the TX would be on first, he just happened to be doing some wiring work and wanted to check something. He almost got a lot more than he bargained for!!

The teach RC was done some while ago and it has worked fine. I guess it is just one of those anomolys.

Make sure you have the throttle in the low position prior to binding, otherwise it will see the position of the throttle position that it was bound with when the transmitter is off. I have had this happen when installing a rev limiter on my nitro machine and had to invert the throttle channel. To my surprise when I shut off my transmitter my throttle went full open.

So the procedure should be, 1. Learn the ECU 2. Bind with low throttle.

I had that problem once too, when I plugged the ECU battery the ECU started to be alived on power despite the main R/C circuit being OFF. Furthermore when I cut the R/C switch (or unplugged the R/C battery) the LED plate was still blinking and the servos & receiver were powered through the gas channel (ECU throttle channel)

Very weird. I send the turbine to JC they "found" nothing officially but since then no further problems.

I would suggest to check all cables including the "3-adrige" cable from ECU to the rpm/temp sensor. A short or a lack of good grounding could be the cause.

I would rebind again , if tx is setup to your final liking rebind and see if issue is still there,if it is then ecu or grounding issues

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

yep I agree a faulty ECU could also likely be the cause for such mishaps
