Looks to be alot lighter. I wonder when the release will be.

If my wife had another job I'd have more Helicopters

It really doesn't look like they changed too much other than the carbon fibre lower frames. Do you know if it's still a 90-140 degree swash set up??

I agree a stiffer upper frame with 120 eCCPM would be nice. I have had no complaints with the stock battery box.

I agree, 120 degree eccpm swash would be way better. The battery tray is nice and spacious, but It looks like the opening at the front of the battery tray is tall enough for the 6S lipo they have in there. On my E550 I can't fit any of my 6S lipo's in the front. On the heli pictured they have the ESC tie wrapped to the X piece at the back of the battery tray....I like the canopy graphic's better than the old black/ red/ white. Still a nice machine IMHO.

@ 824TSV

From what I have heard - the "new e550 RV" comes standard with a 140 degree swashplate.

But I think the 90 degree swashplate will fit, too - same like at the old e550.

Now you are also able to put the Lipos into the frame from the side.

I have no problem with the concept of a 140 swash it’s just the very low strength control balls that I don’t like. The 140 swash for the E550/E620 only have 2mm attach point it will fail every time you crash. If they have a stronger 140 swashplate that would be good.

The 90 degree swash works just as well and never fails in a crash so that’s why most use it.

hmm, with that big cut out for the battery, I wonder how well the frames will take a crash if the skids hit first?
I do like the side loading feature. One thing I like about my e550 is the ability to slide the batery around for CG. I'm hoping to put a scale body on the E550 this spring.

It seems only the lower frame has been updated?

Don't like the way the esc is zip tied to the cross brace. I could be wrong, but so far, zip tie has pretty much cut through everything that I used on it after some flights...except for muffler deflectors.

I think the new way of battery mount is pretty good, HV packs could probably be mounted side by side...but it might be difficult to get a correct c.g. considering that the motor and esc are already at the back, especially if you run a titan boom

I wonder - if the X50B Skids will also fit on the "old" aluminum

side frame without drilling aditional holes?

Being that bare and open on the bottom sides, may work good for putting in and taking out lipos no question. But what about frame flex with so little material connecting bottom to top, how about in crash? Kinda looks like a usefull, but yet fragile thought is all..

And why they not take advantage of the top section on lower level for a 3rd bearing block?

I would use a longer main shaft and put the bottom main shaft bearing block below the anti rotation pulley like the New 90s.

I think the X50 Skids are already predrilled for the R30-50 and E550-E620 skid spacing.

X50 skids

They fit no problem. Tower just sent me a set. No drilling required.
