I'm an Align pilot.

Does it bother you guys at all that you can only get combos and not choose your own setup anymore? Align does it for you! Do you think they know exactly what is best for you?

Bummer.

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

I thing they want to sell their stuff. If they didn't do it this way they will sell less gyros, ESC, blades and servos.

It's all about marketing the package it up hoping when you need new parts that you will be thinking that you need there's. Not knocking align decent stuff for the price.

It wasn't that long ago that Align sold bare kits (motor and esc only included), belt-driven bare kits, torque-tube driven bare kits, kits with three servos, no gyro or tail servo, kits with everything but receiver and battery pack. The offerings of kits on their site was at least four pages long, of all sorts of kits and combinations thereof.

Recently, they pared their offerings down greatly, to the point where just about everything is pretty much just add RX and battery and go fly.

A 90 combo with mostly everything for 1200 bux ?

Man when i first got into 90`s, with the R90se, the N9 and Vibe90, 1200 bux didnt even get ya the kit. Not by a long shot.

It makes things more affordable,as combo`s, and folks have voted with their feet.

I think Align's current strategy is good for us - the consumer, but bad for Align's brand. I love the fact that I can go out and buy a kit with everything included. Keep in mind that they are not exactly including junks with their kit either, OS motor, Savox servo, etc... On the other hand, flooding the market with product with Align logo is bad for Align brand. More often than not, I find brand new Align servos for sales for cheap in the classified section. This in turn, drive the value of Align brand down.

I for one like they way Align have progressed with the quality of the kits and the quality and reliability of the electronics. The blades are good, the servos are good, the motors are good and most of the ESC’s are good too so why complain? I guess the question really should be is why have no other manufactures caught on to Aligns kit success?

Take the Trex 700E for example this kit in any other brands would cost twice as much if not more (you get a Castle 120HV esc, DS610 servos, DS650 tail servo, 700MX motor, voltage regulator, carbon blades, carbon frames, painted canopy) and you know what....... it fly’s just as good if not better than the high end helis in the market and the parts support is much better than the high end helis.

I for one thank Align for the quality and value of their kits others like TT need to take notice. TT was top dog and has fallen below the radar but there come back should mix things up in the market, price point in any market is the key to success and Align has hit it nail on the head.

I have a theory that the reason Align got such a bad rep for there electronics was due to the 75 amp that origonaly came with 600e kits, I dont think there was anything wrong with it, it was just too small for the application.

^ Sure did not hurt Castle Creation`s profit margin either, it got so crazy at one point people were tossing perfectly good Align 100 amp esc`s that came with the kits and replaceing them with smaller 85 amp CC ones.

I for one prefer to choose my own electronics. The kits are good, but they could be offered both ways.

To each one its own.

For example, the 600e on 6S is a joke. The leftover gear is worth ^%$$##$#

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

Its a crazy setup is 6s, your packs dont last long at all.

Also in order to run smoothly everything has to be perfect, so much as a bad bearing or anything wrong with the heli will cause vibratrions and issues because of the lack of power and headspeed, the same bad bearing or slightly imbalanced set of blades e.t.c would not even be an issue on a 500 for e.g

I think they want to sell their stuff. If they didn't do it this way they will sell less gyros, ESC, blades and servos.
And there is your answer! They manufacture all the goodies needed and want to maximize each sell with the whole setup.

The flip side is Align actually puts together a very affordable package with decent electronics. Their servos are OEM by another company and work quite well. Everything else is of decent quality and certainly will perform well for someone starting off.

Which brings up another point. I personally think Align is catering and marketing toward the masses, not the niche advanced market. Which again just makes good business sense, where are the majority of the buyers?

If you are looking for a high quality helicopter in a bare bones kit there are several other companies to satisfy your needs. Align just isn't it.
