had time this weekend to put the shorter main shaft new head block for the fbl and new shorter link rods. seems to feel tighter in rolls and flips with the head 10mm closer to the center mass. but it could just be me. anyone else feel this just like to see what everyone else thinks

Interesting to hear. I'm going to be building a new FBL head for my 700N electric conversion soon using the new Align components (short main shaft, updated main block, etc).

Mine won't be ready for another month or two. Slow build during the winter. Hopefully some others already flying the new components will chime in.

Dino,
Are you using the FBL bell cranks? The ones with two holes?

You'll need to use the lower section of the 700e elevator "A" arm too, but I'm sure you know this.

yes just installed them gives you the ability to increase the afr in the swash menu to use more resolution of the servos and a more liner feel to the heli

+1 on the shorter shaft as well as the shorter FBL head.

Anytime you can lower the disc getting the CG closer to the center of the head the better the machine will perform.

Dino,
Do you think there will be any kind of problems with boom strikes with the blades lower or no?

I have been flying mine this way for months. No blade strikes. There has not been any on the 700E either. It is only 8-9 mm shorter. It works great.

put about 6 flights sat no problems at all the biggest change i think for the better was using the bell-cranks off the E700, it gives it a more connect feel

Hi,
With short shaft you continue to use the standar bearing support on use the trex 700E bearing support (main shaft)

Everything stays the same, but you need to use shorter links that go to the grips.

IMO, when you convert a non FBL 700 to Flybarless, then you have to go all the way. Shorter shaft, shorter links, bellcranks and don't forget the FBL elevator A-frame, along with the FBL servo wheels. That's what gives you true FBL geometry. We are talking about a $300 purchase and that is without the FBL gyro itself .

Machete, don't text!
