Obama 'Furious' With Hillary State Department Over Egypt

Is a civil war brewing between the Obama White House and Hillary Clinton's State Department?

A New York Times story published this weekend suggests one may have erupted already.

obama, clinton, egypt, policy, mubarak, times, state, departmentOn Saturday, the Times, quoting numerous White House sources, sought to explain the Obama administration's erratic policy statements during the Egyptian crisis.

The paper reported that Obama was "seething" over State Department officials's statement suggesting that the administration did not want a quick transition of power in Egypt, with President Hosni Mubarak stepping down from his office immediately.

Obama felt that the State Department "made it look as if the administration were protecting a dictator and ignoring the pleas of the youths of Cairo."

As Secretary Clinton and her special envoy Frank Wisner repeatedly called for an orderly transition that would include President Mubarak remaining in office for at least a period of time, Obama and his team studiously sought to undermine the State Department stance.

The Times states that Mr. Obama "was furious" about Clinton's and Wisner's statements, "as Mr. Obama was demanding that change in Egypt begin right away."

Secretary Clinton was not the only figure who opposed Obama's view. Clinton was joined by Vice President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who also were advocating that Obama adhere to a cautious and more traditional foreign policy approach toward the situation in Egypt.

Unhappy about the mixed signals high-ranking officials were giving, Obama intervened directly, telling White House advisers that "this was not the message we should be delivering.”

According to the Times, the Obama White House even recruited Democratic Sen. John Kerry to appear on "Meet the Press" last Sunday to contradict Wisner's statements that reflected Secretary Clinton's views. Wisner’s comments “just don’t reflect where the administration has been from day one,” Kerry said on the program.
So.....I guess what Obama is saying that if WE rally for a couple weeks in DC that he'll step down immediately??? I guess he might think differently.
And just HOW desperate do you have to be to have John Kerry go on TV to plead your case???
I'm not even going to get into his even MORE huge budget with and even LARGER budget deficit.....

I think the current administration requires medication, they are certainly the most schizophrenic group ever assembled in one place. Funny how he is upset about this yet his own press sec. is saying that they dont call the shots in Egypt. Would be rather amusing if the consequences werent so dire.

Why didn't Obama step down when two million Tea Party people were in DC protesting his spending?
He is so out of touch he can't even agree with his own people!

I wonder how often Clinton regrets tieing her wagon to this clown and losing her Senate seat??? I have always thought she made a mistake. There had to be some "behind the scene" reason for her doing that.
With what he's done in the past few years, she might have even gotten the Democratic nod for 2012 and unseated him.
I hate to say it, but I think I'd almost have rather have had her for president the last few years than Odumba.

Yeah, its called Power !!

Sec Of State is a much more powerful and prestigious position lowly than a Senator.

It wasnt about the Senate or State Dept. She doesnt care what office she holds, as long as she can keep her name in the media until she can make her run for President.

well, she's not doing herself any favors as far as running for president with her performance with the state department. She'd have been better off lieing low as a senator and sponsoring a couple crap entitlement programs to buy off some more votes. Now she just looks like an incompetent lacky of Obama's. I would think she'd be too old in 2016 to run. Maybe if we get Bammy out, we'll have seen the last of the Hildabeast too...

Could you imagine ??

They never would of let it happen - Hillary made Potus - never for the very reason ---- what would they do with Bill ??? For one the party would have lost the ability to direct her ---hence not a chance. Then they would need to give Bill some diplomatic position just to keep him out of their hair. You have a two for one deal - Maybe Abasader Hooterville or some thing just to keep him busy.

It was planned, sold the stink out of it, and purchased, a public organizer. What a good deal ! Own It.

At least she's not afraid to toss her hip's around - She's got em a bit miffed and Uncle Joe won't get anywhere near her for he might say some thing.
