Hi
I began a project copying Jim Ryan who gave me the idea of building a Cheyenne with the reproduction of the old schluter fuse .
I allready put retracts in the fuse
I choosed the mecanic
I copied "Jim Ryan" for the tail
Of course I will put a 4 blade head
I will try to fly this week-end in the trainer first of course !
Regards
Andre

Hi
I'm using a Trex 700 E ; I found it is the only mecanic which can fit the fuse cutting it just over the batteries' s compartiment .
The fuse is very small both in high and wide
I am not a fan of Trx ! That is my first one and you get what you pay for .
Quality is not at the Top but I was obliged !
Their 3G flybarles does'nt give me satisfactyion at all compared to the Vbar I have in my Logo which flies like a dream .
I hope I will not have vibrations : that is what I am affraid of !

I don't have a 700 rex ... but have a 600 for some time now to try out new things on and it can be vibration free ...even though the quality is not up to par some places .... it should do fine for you ...
good luck and keep us up to speed on your project ,,,as I have one of Randalls cheyenne fuse's and if I ever get time I want to do what you are doing to yours ... only I will be using my Bergen electric 700 in it

You are quite right !!! ... but since I designed the proto type Bergen electric ... moving the motor to the top is not a problem ... I have it all figured out in my mind .Keep your fingers crossed that my mind is right
If not ,,that it why I am interested in your rex conversion so much I had one of the orginal SX -81's and don't want to go with that setup .

Very cool Andre. Can you post the dimensions of the modifications of the Trex frames and the tail rotor for duplication?

Hi
I did nit modify the frames yet
I will when I will fit in the fuse
Dimensions of extended tail rotor depends on the size of blades and tail rotor head used
Personaly I have a 22,5cm diameter rotor ( 7,5cm blades + rotor )
So the extend move the rotor 12,5cm from center
space betwen the two rotors is 1,25cm ( 12,5- 22,5/2 )
I made 3 extends 8,5cm plus 4 cm axle out from bearing = 12,5
Hope you understand !

Excellent Project

Outstanding project, Andre! I'm a little envious that you opted for the larger size. My Cheyenne has turned into the most ambitious heli project I've ever done, and I can't help wishing that after getting the 450 mechanics flying I didn't start over in 600 size.

I'm pleased to report that after a LOT of work, I finally have the mold complete and have made my first fuselage. It's really turned out beautifully, and I'm inspired to push it through to completion. My goal is to have it ready for the Toledo RC Expo, which is the first weekend of April. That doesn't leave me a lot of time.

Best of luck from here on!

Hi Jim
You inspired me and thanks for that
I am always looking for something new to build but something rare and this is it !!
I was really affraid concerning vibrations as when I tested on the bench it was unflyable
I ordered some extra tail rotor blades to match by weight ; I found differencies from one to other of 0,5 gramme
I bought a digital balance too
After it worked well
I let you know later with 4blades main rotor
Best regards
Andre

Extremely COOOOOOOOOL Gotta love the tail mods. I have one thing to say...lot's of locktite!! That's a heck of a lot of stand off on the side tail rotor, but I really like the concept of modding the existing rex700 parts. Keeps it simple and cheap.

All helis and planes have an expiration date stamped on them...you only find it after you crash!!

Howdy all,

Thanks to Randall, I have my very first scale fuse
On it's way! I will be following (copying) the
ideas of those before me. As this thread it quite
old, how about an update(with pics) from everyone.
I've begun my search for a Trex 700 to begin, and luckily
For me, five miles down the road at Ft. Campbell Army
base, a Cheyenne sits out in front of the museum.
Lately I've been playing with a DJI F550 hexacopted
and Wookong GPS system with such fantastic results,
that I will not fly my scale without it!

Andre,
There must be something wrong with the soundcard in my laptop. I can
read what you say perfectly, but you sound funny when you talk.
