I have a video of this Beast with a little incident at the end. Jeff does a good job of saving it though with no damage to the engine...just needs to replace a few parts to the tail box, tail blades, tail push rod and landing gear.

Watch at YouTube

At 3:18 in video is when I had no tail .It is fixed and ready for tomorrow, the tail control arm came loose and slider ball came out of control lever and you know the rest

At end of video you can see how relieved I was to land safe.

This is tail rod wrapped around tail shaft

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Jeff, congratulations for the great save of the tail, the hely and above all the engine! You've been lucky, but I think your skills have been much more prevalent than lucky ! Great!

I'm getting used to turbine , this was after failure

Not realy a flight routine but just wanted to show what turbine and airframe is capable of
Headspeed at 1920

That's an awesome heli Jeff, but if it were me, I'd need one of those brush guard things you see on the front of pick up trucks, and somehow fit it on that heli in front of the intake on that turbine. I'd sure as heck put it in, right on the nose!
Those turbines have always fascinated me! Since the hueys in Viet Nam. That's one bad a$$ heli!!!

I have to tell you , it's not the crash I worry about . I can handle if turbine gets damaged but the fire is my biggest fear . Motor you send back and have repaired but when the fire is done it's total loss .The mishap I had a little fire started in grass and a fuel line blistered ,if main fuel tank punchered it might have been worse. The whole time I was trying to save I was saying hit tail down and as level as possible to save turbine . The helichris conversion is tuff and protects turbine well.

Oh man, that's simple, just add a Halon fire suppression system to it. And be sure to get a patent for it!!!
That would be a scary thought, to have it burn up!

Very good save on the heli Jeff !!!!! I too think as Dennis .. that your flying skills had more to do with it than luck !!!

This is one of the reason Chris B has put his turbine in the back on the Magnum 44

Hi jeff,
today I finally had my first flights on my kit. It's a great buzz!!!
Can you tell me about your throttle curve? mine is 100/85/100 but the engine still trop's a bit in some maneuvers. More than in your heli, or at least thats what it seams looking at your videos... Are you running flat curve at 100? What about the turbine rpm? 175k? or did you increase it?
Thank you for the time, I really appreciate!

My friened and I test flew his 700 turbine today and all was well. This is on a conversion that he has made himself which should be available soon, as the new frames are on CAD and cut from carbon.

Jeff kindly provided his curves to me the other day and they are as follows:

normal is 30 50 75 100
idle 1 is 100 80 60 80 100
idle 2 is 100 85 70 85 100

Apart from the 30 in Normal which I changed to 0 (Tick over too high), they worked very well, although we did change idle 2 to:

idle 2 is 100 85 75 85 100

I also set a +12 0 -12 pitch curve for now.

We were quite gentle today so the blades kept spinning. I tried a couple of gentle tic tocs and rainbows and it seemed fine, but it was very gentle.

We were running at 175k and Jeff didn't mention changing it.

Regards

Geoff

Daniele Perfett,
On throttle curves you have to tweak . The turbine is slow reaction on rpm change so you move up points until headspeed stays constant with fast stick movements .I did mine by ear but you can tach doing slow climb outs(50% to 100%) then copy to inverted side of curve (0 % to 50%) V curve. I can only explain it like having a super slow servo on a governor on a nitro.
