my .02 worth. RJX heads are rock solid and stable. It would be a real insult to put an align head on a nice Rappy. LOL RJX all the way

you will NOT be disappointed with the RJX, one thing they got right was the fbl head assemblies.

Finished

Here is the wrap-up on my FBL quest for the X50. I had already used an RJX head on my Trex 500 and it works perfectly but there was a little play in the spindle shaft between the blade grips which was easily corrected with a couple of tiny shims. The Align FBL conversion for my Furion 450 also works perfectly and it seemed to be machined better. I used a BeastX on both of those helis and even though I had never done FBL before it was really easy to set up and then they both flew really well with just the standard setup. A little tweaking and they are now really good.
So I decided to use the Trex FBL head which fit on easily and I was able to use the same links. I got the black version so it looks good except for the Align logo all over the place (I know what Raptor guys think about Align). I bought a used full sized Vbar 5.0 on the Runryder classified forum because I wanted to eventually use a governor and didn't want to wait for the Futaba. I upgraded to 5.1 and then I set it up with the standard procedure.
It flew horribly. Hardly controllable. (Didn't use the governor yet because the engine wasn't broken in.)
I contacted our clubs local heli expert and he helped me set it up. First we took the sensor apart and epoxyed with microbaloons the little sensors in place and we epoxied entire board and smashed the whole mass together. He then went through the entire setup again and put in more optimal settings.
The X50 now flies scary unbelievably well. The first flight after the re-do was in 25mph winds and the X50 was really steady and agile. Better than the Beast. The Vbar seems to way harder to set up properly and it seems like it would take more trial and error to get it to work so well so it helps to have some help.
So, I know that a lot of FBL heads will work and so will different electronics. I'm just glad that I did it.

How well does an RJX head survive crashes? What breaks/bends? Does it use any Align compatible parts?

Thanks, Scot

The RJX head is a little stronger than Align. It uses no Align parts. Places that sell RJX usually list all the parts. You can bend anything in a crash but the only things I have bent were the spindles. It’s probably a good idea to have several spindles and maybe a set of grip arms on hand.

One thing that makes the RJX better than Align is the RJX has a much massive hub and it clamps to the shaft.

+1 Where are you guys getting these?
Heli direct only shows .90 heads.
Google RJX and click on heads it only shows parts.
I can't seem to find a .50 size RJX head anywhere.

Hi guys,
For all of you that used the Align FBL head on the Raptor, what are you using for ball links? The Trex 600 FBL head have 5mm balls on the blade grips and the links fit a 2.5mm pushrod. The stock Raptor balls at the swashplate are smaller and the links use a smaller diameter rod. ???

The Raptor rods are thread OD. 2.13mm. IF you use Rocket City ball links you can drill them out to except up to 3mm. rods.

I still don't get it. I think you pretty much have to use the Align links at the blade grips because the balls are bigger at 5mm. Those links are for 2.5mm pushrods so they can't be used with stock Raptor rods. Unless you mean to use the Rocket City links on the Align 2.5mm pushrods? I think that might work...

You want to use the Align 5mm. ball links for the Align 2.5mm rods. Use the Align FBL rods and just drill out the R/C links for Align 2.5 rods, That way you can use the standard TT balls on the Raptor Swash Plate.

It might be a while before I do this. But I think I am going to try this one.

They sell parts also. Of course it will take a few weeks to get them. But it looks like all the RJX stuff is on backorder or unavailable.
I have been watching the helicraft sight for a while. This head has yet to show backorder.

That is what I did. I used the regular Align FBL rods and links on the grips. On the swash used the regular T. Tiger ball links which I drilled out to fit on the Align rods. The links are really long so I'm not worried about them coming undone.

Tried the Rocket City links at the swashplate and they rub. My swashplate is really old...Raptor 50 V2 era...maybe that is the reason. Drilled out the stock TT links to fit the Align 2.5mm rods and that seems to be okay but not sure if it weakened them too much. Worth a try, anyway.

Having a little trouble with the Trex 600 swash driver. The Trex swash is wider so the radius arms are canted inwards on the Raptor swash. This causes the radius links to rub on the ball screws. Will try to fix JR balls on the swash inner ring and see if that helps.

Found some ball links is my box of junk. I think they're Mikado links and they say 2.5 on them. They fit perfectly on the Align 2.5mm pushrod and also fit well on the Raptor swashplate balls. Getting there slowly...
