Hi Everyone,
I have a Raptor 620 I,a 20 yrs plus r/c plane guy is having a ball with, just a little over the anniversary of buying an MCX. Cool hobby, sorry I waited so long.
Anyway I pulled the 780 to try a Quark. My radio is a DX7. I found the DX7, while an excellent performer, to be positively weird in some of its programming options particularly in helis pretty poorly done. On Helifreak I said so and tongue in cheek asked who the 'drug addicts and alcoholics were who dreamed up some of this programming", especially the insane model select and whacky gyro set-ups.
I know, I know, but I wasn't lashing out, it was meant as humor, as in "nobody in posession of their right mind could have dreamed this up."
Well, I had a Mr. Milk toast say "your remarks dont reflect well on your opinion", I said I could care less about his opinion, reminded him of the praise I had for the radio, then was banned...for life !!!! This is with no other warnings, complaints, nothing . Wow.
Oh well. Anyway, here's a question for you those with a lot more on the ball than I am with the subject.
I used the gear switch on the DX7 to select between gyro rates on the Quark because thats what Im used to. On the wonderfully programmed DX7 to use that switch requires using the gear travel adjust + and - selections, + for HL. To do otherwise requires using this 'auto' feature where the rate changes when flight modes change, or this little gem : Use the rudder dual rate switch along with its hold feature all on one toggle. Must just be me.
So, as I'd read I started out with +50 on HL, -50 (these are gear travel values) in rate mode. I tested it at the +50 HL and in normal flight mode it works beautifully.
When I put it in Idle up though it has a pretty major tail twitch.
Since these values are something foggy to me, Im not sure what to do, and how much of it to do. I dont require or want Rate mode. Is there a way to make that so by changing that "-" number, so that regardless of what I have toggled on the gear switch I'll still be in HL ?
I believe the tail twitch in Idle up requires reducing the gain a little at a time until it goes away, right ? Well, if I reduce the "+", HL number do I need to do something corrosponding to the '-", rate number ?
I guess the fact I started at this unfamiliar + and - 50 business is what has me confused.
Thanks gentlemen for any and all feedback ! Doug |
