Need some help trying to figure out what esc speed control to put in a 700e trex.. For my flying stile no 3d yet. I have seen esc from 85amps to 160amps. For what I can do with a heli what do I need? Is there a happy medium ? I would like to get the best bang for my buck. Thanks for all the help in advance..

Going to be flying a stock setup.

Castle ICE HV120 is the best bang for the buck, and will cover the power needs of a 700E

I also have the ICE 80HV, more than enough for a stock 700e.

Get the 120, the 80 will work with the stock motor just fine, but you'd sure hate to have buy another one if you ever want to upgrade... I know from experience!

This hobby is like Kryptonite to chicks!

I also have the 80HV.

It worked great on the 700M and after a few flights I went with the Scorpion 500kv. I have no problems running the 80HV and I beat on the poor thing...

Dont see a need to go bigger, the 700E has stupid power as is If the price is right going with the 120 is a good Idea but not needed especially if you dont plan on beating on it.

If I were building one for me it would be a 120 for sure! I have first hand knowledge that an ICE HV80 will work, but for a little more you will have the headroom of a 120?

xxcysxx, My buddy stretched his 550 to 600mm boom/blades and is using the ICE100 with the NEU motor on 6S. Its a beast and the ICE100 is capable of 8S. Either esc should be fine depending on the setup you go with...

i know nothing about the 700s but i recently went to a ice50 on my 450 and it is awesome 3d or not. programing is a simple click of the mouse and the logging has opend up a hole new world.

what kinda logs are the 80hvs pulling. amps, watts, heat, ripple, power output, all is readable on the graphs

80HV can take it, the name(80HV) is deceiving... Keep in mind that's Bert also.
I PEAK at 120 amps here n there for a instant and my temps are 100 peaking at around 120-130. The peak readings are usually only a instant. Averages are much much lower except for Bert, the temps stay a bit high but he beats on the poor thing. As stated if moneys not a issue go for the 120HV, if not the 80 is more than fine even for the scorpion 500kv.

I thought since peoples have no problem using an 80hv on their ninety, it would probaby be overkill if i use it on my stretched five fifty. Is this not true?
Why would you need 100 amp esc for if that's way too much?

Well my friend went with the ICE100 since he was going 6S, max is 8S on the "ICE" non-HV. The 80HV/120HV are for 12S setup or I guess I should say up to 12S.

On the stretched 550 the ICE100 on 6S is perfect for him. The 80HV will work on a 550 or 600 depending on the setup.

If you plan on going 8S+ down the road it might be a good idea to have the HV.

Sorry hotline!

6S on the 550 and 12S on the 700. The 550 pulls more amps.

ok i just remember now. higher voltage uses lesser amps, and better efficiency. lower voltage uses more current, and not as efficient as the higher voltage setup.
no wonder why many of you can get away with an 80amp esc on the 700. i though this amp rating is probably not going to be efficient enough for the 550 or 600, leave a lone to be considered on a 700. i understand now.

sorry for hijacking your thread hotline.
let me know when you get that 700, i want to stop by and check it out.

thanks everybody for your response.
i'm out
