A fellow APer turned us on to a cool new lens that happens to fit a GoPro sports camera. Albeit with a little surgery.

Flew it on our tiny Gaui 330xs.
The MK quest continues......

That'll work. Nice video, especially when you consider the sparse(relatively) costs involved. +1 for production value.

Thanks for the compliments.

Lens is made by Sunex. Camera has to be taken apart and the stock lens broken free from its mount in order to install the new unit.

Now that sir is friken AWESOME! That film you did looks superb! Why can GoPro not offer us an option like this? I love the quality their cams do, but the fisheye really ticks me!

Great work!!

This is the new lens, you can see that the polycarb lens cover has to be removed but the flange could be modified if necessary i suppose.

The poly carb case will no longer be sealed NOR will the camera case itself without further mods.

Just thought some peeps may be interested in knowing that the upgrade lens for the Go Pro mod is now available on Sunex's website.

The lens works nicely, here is a video demo I made of it in action.

I have not done any shoots with the lens yet, the weather is to cold here in NY.

I simply cut the flange off the body of the camera so I could get a pair of pliers on the stock lens. I then unscrewed the lens and screwed in the Sunex lens. There is no need to take the camera apart. This way the stock lens can be replaced and reinstalled easily.

I read this thred with great interest. I am new to GoPro HD.
I checked the internet and I found many similar HD cameras from Aiptek, Bonica, Contour, DXG, Flip, JVC, Kodak, Samsung, Sanyo and Sony.

I would like to know:
1)why do you choose a GoProHD instead of one of the brands I listed at top?
1)do you start rec before flight and stop after you landed or if the GoPro rec/stop function can be controlled by an r/c function?
3)have you watched a typicall GoProHD footage on a HD TV set and how does it look?
Thanks for sharing your experience.
