Just wondering if any of you guys are watching this? what are your thoughts?

I would rather be in a boat, with a drink on the rocks, then in the drink, with a boat on the rocks!

If it's the show with the old dude wrecking half his crap by running the excavator into everything, then yeah, I saw an episode. The Alaska show about the bush pilots and stuff is more interesting though. Alaska Air Men I think it's called.

Alaska wing men and yes this is far more interesting than watching some guy run into everything with a trackhoe and the camp hunter shooting a bear

1. who in their right mind would bring their families up there

2. that child who had a seizure, was it for TV or for real

3. they have to find $1,000 a day to break even. sure don't look so promising.

4. but in the end, everyone knows how it "PANS" out, don't we

I watch it and like but all of you are right, its made for TV and most of what you see isn't what really happens. I guarantee they will find enough gold to cover their costs or at least that's what the show will end up being about.

Everyone of these shows is the same thing, they barely finish in time, they all have variables that could financially wipe them out, they could all die, someone always gets possibly killed, commercial, then they come back after the commercial and it ends up being no big deal.

I do like the show though, just the thought of going up there doing what their doing seems really cool.

I find myself hoping those clowns go broke.Idiots from top to bottom.....But I'm just guessing that they pull it out in the nick of time like TV usually does.

The proceeds from the show itself will more than pay their costs.

Those people are not doing that for nothing.

Its a win, win situation for them.

Our RC club knows those people and used to rent flying space from them at the Sandy, Oregon airport.

They are really good people and the story of them struggling as shown on the first show or 2 are true. The rest of the story while they are on site up north may be scripted at least to some degree. So what.

I wish I were in their shoes and got so lucky as to have an adventure like that broadcast to millions and get paid for it.

Lemme tell ya dadgummit, that guy is the real deal. So are the other yahoos on the river (not the idiot father/son team). I know a lot of guys like that down south. You can't fake that. Those guys are true southern redneck to the bone.
Now the father/son river team??? That father has to be the most complete and utter idiot I'v ever seen, which is why he's my favorite guy to watch. Shelby's a close second just because I know a lot of fellas like him.

that other new show on Discovery looks good: "Sons of Guns" about a father daughter team that makes custom weapons/guns. Starts in a couple weeks.

The gold guys look totally disorganized and the infighting is unacceptable.

I watched it last night for the first time. What a flustercluck.
Looks like meeting after meeting after meeting. Meanwhile nothing gets done....kinda like government.
Sure is beautiful scenery though. I'd give it a shot just for that and maybe some trout/fly fishing.

that kid should have stayed with his buddies on the river instead of going back with (can we really call him a dad)?

I wanna have shelby in my pick up bed as i drive down my street slowly and he can take out a few of the wild turkeys with his 6 shooter. if he hits a few of my neighbors, no big loss

Watched an episode. Meh, I'm much more interested in the new Air Alaska or whatever it's called.

Those gold guys seem like decent fellas, but there just seems to be too much chance for scripting in the show. Somehow, by the end of the season, they'll find a major stash of gold and everything will be alright until one of their wives calls and says they need more because they are losing the house aka be sure to tune in next season for this shocking conclusion!
