The Century web site now includes a Hawk e-conversion kit CN1000ec for $45.00 - looks pretty nice. I think I'll order one to replace my homemade motor mount!

I just looked at the website and jumped the gun thinking how nice it would be to also be able to use a clutch.

well... I am at a hotel and the page loaded slowly, but there are pics showing the conversion using a clutch.
Now that's what I'm talking about!!

I didn't see that about using the clutch. How about post a link to that if you don't mind.

Go to Heli-World, look under upgrades. Looks good, wish it was black. I like the inclusion of the clutch.

That IS nice. I may have to get that for my Jet Ranger to replace my mount and put the clutch on.

Could the KDE TREX 700 motor plate be used for this as well? The frames on the 700 have the same spacing as the Hawk/Falcon.

http://www.kdedirect.com/TREX700NMMU.html

They even provide a drilling template for the mount.

What is the input shaft diameter for the motor adaptor?

Meatbob,

The clutch adapter takes a 5mm shaft. I too thought about using the KDE mount but decided it was just as easy and cheaper to buy a piece of aluminum plate and angle from ACE Hardware and make my own. My homemade mount was mounted behind the main gear where there was more frame to bolt it to. I ended up making a servo, gyro and ESC mount from the same material. The only reasoned I purchased the Century unit was mainly for the clutch adapter and for some of the machined parts. I've included a photo of my homemade mount and more recent photos of the Century mount installed in my Jet Ranger project.

Thanks for the info on the shaft. I have a Falcon SE V2 that is just begging for an electric motor. Now that they sell the shaft adapter apart from the upgrade kit, I might just have to throw that in the next order from Heli-World.

Stumbled upon this thread. I have one custom CNC motor mount that I had made for my e-falcon. Of course, it fits the hawk as well. If anyone wants it, I'll let it go for $40 shipped (US).

recieved Century electric conversion kit
I recieved my Century electric conversion kit, and it is shown in this video I made of my progress rebuilding my Century 30/550 size Jet Ranger electric conversion from a minor crash. After I rebuild the heli and get the mechanics sucessfully flying again with my homemade kit again, I plan to install the Century kit using the clutch that came with the mechanics.

I keep you posted on the progress.

Thanks for posting. I'm always impressed with the gear noise on these Century helis when you convert them from nitro.

Gears
Just looked at the century web site and noticed in the conversion kit the pinion supplied for direct drive is 19tooth and the clutch bell is 26tooth. I'm running a 19tooth pinion on a century 1100kv motor if I change to the clutch bell I think I might have to change the motor.
Any advise appreciated
