New to the bigger electrics so pardon my newbyish-ness lol.

Just got my NX Combo kit yesterday..It has the 4'S 5'S motor/esc.It is this combo here>>> http://www.centuryheli.com/products...45COM1¤tid=654

The manual says that i need a separate RX battery pack or BEC..The servos i plan on using are just your basic futaba sport digitals
http://www.greathobbies.com/product...rod_id=FUTS3151

The lipos that i have are Rhino 5'S 4900 20C..I do have a four cell 1000 Nicad pack..My questions is this...

Will i need to use the Nicad pack even though the ESC that came with my heli is this one here>>>
http://www.centuryheli.com/products...CNE481¤tid=654;

On a side note...What are the pecs on the BEC that comes with that ESC?..I dont see it listed anywhere on the century site

welcome aboard.

the onboard BEC on most ESC are only rated up to 3A, which is good enought for 4 analog servos but definitely NOT for 4 digital ones and a gyro. (CC ICE 5A)

http://www.centuryheli.com/searchre...%3A11&q=esc#960

Century are rated around 2A.

the NiC you have is adequate for maybe TWO flights MAX given digitals and flying style

consider a separate voltage regulator with onboard BEC if you want to spare charging the NiC.

your century link is dead.

Best of luck!

BEC

This is what i use, no need for extra weight of another battery.

Bec

If you are using a tail servo that can only be fed by 4.8(5)volts, then a stepdown is needed, "if you are running 6+ volts on rest of the system".

The Bec is switchable from 4.4v, 5.3v, 6v and 8.4.
Probably could use 5.3v without stepdown, but remember a stepdown just lowers voltage by .8 or so volts.

They are all good, buyer's choice, link i gave is the one i use.

How's your CG with that battery? I'm getting good CG with a 4s 4000 pack.

Yours might be a little heavy. You could put metal tail grips and slider to balance it out?
