I have a self debate going on here and am welcoming any opinions. I have an older futaba radio which is a 6xa/h. This radio is in a nexus 30 heli I learned to fly with. Late last season I crashed it. I had an extra nexus kit I built up and put my new radio system in it which is a 7c. I found somebody with some nexus parts and am debating on if I should rebuild the nexus I crashed. I was thinking of finding a used .32 engine and gyro then I would have 2 nexus helis. However, the feel of the transmitters are different and the helis will respond differently. Is it common to use 2 different transmitters, possibly events same day, or should I get used to one. Maybe I shouldn't rebuild the nexus or rebuild to just have an extra airframe butthe airframe would be set up with the old radio system. It just keeps going thru my mind that for a few dollars in parts, I could have another heli on hand (minus the engine and gyro). Then again, this thinking will never get me away from old helis. I recently got a thunder tiger x50 but need beater helis on hand til I vet good. I would like to fully change over to the raptors, but I have a good supply of nexus odds and ends. Any opinions would be helpful.

The 7c can program multiple models and is a much better radio, I would stick with that

I don't want to spend the money on a new receiver. The only reason I am considering fixing the crashed nexus is beacuse it will be cheap to repair as I have most of the needed parts and I already have it fited out with the electronics. It would need a motor and gyro though.

The reciever you already have, if you put the crystal in to match your 7C would work fine.

I would sell the 6x to fund a second receiver. You can pick them up here for around 70 bucks.. You should be able to get that for the old radio and rx...

Just my two cents.

that is actually a really good thought. However, is there really even a market for it as it can't do the combined swash type helis which most are anymore, plus it could use a new battery. All in all, I doubt it would bring much. I also have it set up for one of my planks so I would need a new receiver in it as well. I am thinking I may be better off not selling it which puts me back to my original question. Very good thought though, thanks.

Get a new receiver... And for the parts, go to BigDaddies classifieds ad... He's selling his whole fleet.

I am ordering some parts from him. However, I didn't really get a good opinion on the use of 2 different transmitters. Is this something that shouldn't be done or is it not uncommon?

It's up to the individual. I primarly use a 14MZ. I do have an 8FG (that I use for foamies in the winter). I have started to program 1 of my helis into the 8FG, but just haven't gotten around to finishing it up. I suppose it could be confusing to take 2 models to the field and have to have 2 different transmitters. Programming 1 model into 2 TX's, well then you have the option of which TX to use AND, you have a backup should you ever have to send one in.
