Practicing piros has helped my flying more than anything. In place an traveling piros help so much with correcting at different and constantly changing angles. Now for the holy grail; the piro flip. Welcome to the cyclic stir! It will be a while before I try one of these in the field.

Ive done half piro flips at the field, but the full piro flip scares the crap out of me.

Without knowing your current skill level, may I suggest learning the stationary hover piro first (left and right), then funnels and hurricanes at all four points, both left and right travel lines of travel.

Learning to hover piro helps you learn how and when to tilt the head when the tail is spinning around its axis so you can control the direction of travel of the heli. You'll need to learn this in order to make the small corrections required to maintain control during the action.

Knowing how to fly a funnel and a hurricane at all four points is a huge help, becuase you'll learn how to control the heli while flying the side of the disc. Plus it teaches rudder articulation which is extremely important becuase a too much rudder input can easily throw off the excecution points of the manuever. When you can acurately control the rudder during this action, you'll be able to utilize the rudder to change the flight level without having to exit the action first. Once you've learned all four points, you can transition between point during the manuever. Eventually, you'll be able to transition seemlessly without changing your line of travel or flight level and you'll also have the basics to quickly learn the piro wheel or piroing hurricane.

Finally, learning the piro flip is probably one of the most difficult manuevers to teach let alone learn. Its a trail and error type thing that does take some time and alot of patience. Time your intial input to your tail. I learned to intiate the action when the tail was pointed at me. And I made a point to piro during my routines to get used to controlling a spinning heli in FF and a hover. I finally got the full piro flip down after about 3 months and now I can't stop doing piro type manuevers during my sim and real flight sessions. It does make your flight more interesting to watch and its worth the pain of learning it. Good luck and I hope you get it soon.

I have been trying to do pyroflips for years. As of late last year I was just able to get it.

It still needs perfecting but it gets better everyday.

Heres what I did to finally get it down

1: set a high and low rate for rudder to control your piro rate.

2: Set your radio to low rate rudder (mine is set to a tad less then on revolution per second)

3: Lift your heli into a hover start your piro's you should be able push the rudder stick to the wall and you heli should spin at your desired rate.

4: Count one two one two one two.... your heli nose should pass every time you say a number.

5: rotate your cyclic (aileron-elevator stick) as you count, passing the same point in the rotation every time you say a number.

6: now manage you collective as you heli changes from inverted to upright.

Your helicopter should be Piro fliping

no to keep it in one spot I am still working on. I guess I need to manage my collective better when my helicopter is completely side ways, its just hard to see.

if any one has more suggestions for me let me know.

Fly 60% take heli home Fly 150% take parts home
