I run the Turnigy 6s 20C 2650mah. I believe they weigh in at 20oz. Perfect fit and CG.

My heaviest pack is a 6S 3000 Turnigy 40-50C and it weighs 528grams.

i've used up to 6S 3300 before, i could get the cg right but it was REAL close to the pinion, and it felt heavy unless you ran insane headspeeds. After my buddy ron (rnkasp) stretched his logo 400 to 523's, i really believe thats how that heli likes to rock. 6S 3000's to 6S 3300's balance nicely, give good flight time, and GREAT pop even at relatively low headspeeds (2000-2100)

To me, it has all the benifits of a smaller ship (6s vs 8s or 12s packs, lower cost in general, portability) but many advantages of a larger ship (easier to see in the air, tracks a bit better, doesn't sound like a knat on crack with the high headspeeds generally needed on a smaller heli to get good performance)

I absolutely love flying rons.

i had the 400 in stock format and was never quite pleased with teh "heavy" feel it had, i've flown rons several times and it felt great.

i really think they should be kitted that way and if they want a true 425mm heli, reduce the weight a bit. A protos equipped similarly with 425's servos, etc is about 12oz lighter

Did he stretch to standard Logo 10 boom with 560mm or XL boom with 620mm to run the 523's?

Because I am also thinking about streching to EDGE 523mm blades!

Thanks
Martin

first to the standard 10 boom, then to the larger one. there was clearence with the 10 boom, but almost none!!!

DO IT, you won't regret it, i think its where the 400 really makes its mark!

i'd higly recommend the 4020-1100, a tight fit (dremel away the frame a bit) but makes great power at low rpm and is very torquey. the 3026 series just cant handle the bigger blades

Thanks mmc205

At the moment I am running 465mm Spinblades with 3000mAh nano-tech (460g) packs, boom is a 520mm CFK, motor is a Kontronik Mini Pyro 400-14.

With this combination I have to move the LiPo out of the chassis to get propper cg!

So when stretching to the 620mm boom I have to use another motor or bigger packs!

When changeing the motor I will use a Kontronik Pyro 600-11 with 1050KV, that will fit without modifying the chassis and is much lighter then the 4020 Skorpion.

What packs do you use and what flighttime do you get?

I am flying no 3D just wide aerobatic flight!

not my heli but ron uses 6S 3000 and 6S 3300 with flight times of 5-6.5 minutes doign a mix of fast forward flight, smooth 3D, and aerobatics

that motor would be nice on the stretch

ron and i also tried 470's (sab) and the results were postive but not as good as we would have liked without very high headspeeds. 523's work great, but i have a feeling even 500's would be wonderful as well.
