Tail Grips

My Bad...it's been so long since I have played with the stock tail that I forgot exactly what it looked like.

Eric was right...i was referring to the little piece of plastic that comes off the tail grip...

here's a couple pics of what I am talking about...and a pic of my RJX setup

Shawn,

I tried the Compass flybarless head and didn't like it..flew fine but I just didn't like it ...so I put an RJX head on mine..

Just upgraded my 6HV's v-bar to 5.1 and now my 6HV just became more alive then it ever was. I'm glad I updated my v-bar.

Steve,

Thank you for posting that regarding V-Bar 5.1.

I am in the process of upgrading mine as well (from Express to 5.1).

stock system

It work flawless for me! the ecs and motor is a realy good combination, I tested the stock blades vs Radix fbl and i didnt notice any diference in performance but I think the stock blades are better just coz they cost $70 bucks!!!!
this is wht i have on it
stock esc,motor,blades,kit
3x8717
8900
mini vbar 5.1
step down for tail servo
2xtunigys nano 3300 25c
turnigy 1600 lipo for rx
6min of 3D flight
I just hope more canopy companies decide to come out with new canopy color designs!!!

I'm running the stock motor, ESC, and blades and see no reason to change. I just started using the VBar 5.1 governor and it works fabulously with the stock power system.

stock head

What's up with the stock flybarless head? Some people don't dig it?

Stock stuff

I didn't like the stock ESC really...it works...but the gov kind of sucks when you beat it hard..especially in moves like fast Aileron Tic tocs...it works just not great..

I recently switched to a JIVE 60HV and it's leaps and bounds better...but the stock motor is GREAT!

My 6hv flies amazingly well..even with these $18 cheapy servos...right now I'm flying vbar 5.1 and torsion 600mm main blades with the RJX FBL head and it's the BOMB!

Jag, I remember you owned Logo too right? How do they compare to your Logo and other helis that you owned. I just sold my 12s trex 600 and thinking about coming on board with this heli. I'll be running a compass stock motor with a CC HV80 esc, WR super hercule bec, stock align servos, Mini Vbar 5.1 and turnigy 3000mah.

What do you recommend as far as upgrading parts. Does the RJX FBL head fly that much better?

6HV

Personally I think this Atom flies as good or better than any of my logo 600's

the stock esc is perfect if you use vbar 5.1 and the governor...the stock gov is not that great..

the stock FBL head is just fine also..I just prefer the rjx for parts replacements ..

I wouldn't use a castle ESC if you paid me...but that's just me

The key to the 6hv is to keep it light...it flies and balances perfectly with a set of 6s 2600mah's

any larger and it adds unneccesary weight in my opinion..

I fly relatively hard 3d and get about 4:45 on my 2600mah setup ..that's enough flight time for me..my 6hv weighs in at 7lbs 1oz fully ready to fly.

I have run the Align servos in the past and they work fine...but get sloppy fast and have a track record of burning up unexpectedly...of course I am running these power HD cheapo $18 servos so I can't really talk bad about the aligns

BTW...I am using an Align 650? on the tail

Jag, would it be safe to say it's worth it for the money. I'm surprised you mention it flies just as good if not better than the logos. I'm a huge fan of the logo, so your comments really helps me to determine my future 600 size class.

Atom

Personally I think this is a great machine...one of my favorites...at least for what i have myself...I just sold off my Furion 6 because it didn't fly as well as this one.

I still have an RJX 50Ep 600 and a logo 600 and the Roxxter 55 600mm and the Alien 600mm machine...and this one is the first one I grab off the wall to fly...

it's definitely worth the money for me and I like it a LOT

That's funny. Because I was very close to buying a furion 6, but everybody kept telling me to get the 6HV because it's cheaper, and flies better. Do you have any plans to upgrade the servos in the near future? There are talks about upgrading the stock dampers to KBDD for better performance. Have you done this mod yet, or is the stock one just fine?

fyi, there is an improvement thread over on HF about this model in the Compass section if you want to see other owner's nit-picking.

I have read of some servos requiring resizing of the servo frame slots, notching of the anti-rotation bracket for more elevator servo travel clearance, fragile landing gear, some sort of lipo back-plate to protect lipos from being cut by frame in a crash and some other odds and ends.

Apparently Compass has released new, stronger landing gear - check with Dave at Nankin Hobby...someone else was also messing with making stronger landing gear too, but last I checked (also on HF) they were still in the proto-typing phase and not ready to sell.

Overall, despite the few idiosyncrasies, everyone who flies the model has seemingly had nothing but glowing reviews.

6HV

I have no plans of upgrading the servos even though I have a set of 4 New Torq Brushless servos sitting on my bench ..as well as an extra set of these cheapy servos...just in case..

I'm going to fly the crap out of this setup for now...it flies great

I use the RJX head so they have their own o-ring style dampners and they work well..

The new landing gear is out now. We tested a few sets for durability at the Bham funfly, and these are far more flexible and less prone to breaking.

Eric do you know if theses new landing skid will be included with the kit as of now?

darkfa8, I'm also on HF with the same name. From what I've been reading that's what they say. I don't know if it's a R&D problem or not.

This is a bit of an old thread, but anyway I'm totally happy with my 6HV, I had the Atom 500 which is nice but the 6Hv has presence had it 5 weeks and done maybe 60 flights, and Lipo's are cheap, I get 7 min flights if i take it easy. But Im going to add 11 tooth pinion so see what it will do.
