well I did enough reading to find out that you should NOT set a higher freq "on boot" because if you do that and it is unstable you may as well toss the phone in the trash because it wont turn on. In my case when I set the overclocker to 1.4 or higher, it simply freezes and the screen simply wont work. So I popped out the battery for like 10 seconds, put it back in, and it goes back to the stock 1.00ghz settings. I have stress tested for serveral minutes at a time at 1.3 with no errors. Anything higher freezes the screen and has to be rebooted. All the cpus are different though so some others may be able to handle the 1.45 no problem, some may freeze at 1.2, you kinda have to do trial and error to find the best settings for your phone. just remember do not set any freq "at boot" until you have seriously tested it! And even still I dont see why its so hard to change it yourself each time you turn the phone on to avoid any issues on initial boot up, and that way youll always be able to set back to stock by just popping out the battery I am super happy with it (not like i wasnt before though either)

I'm running a custom rom which its light years faster than the stock OS anyways so I don't think I'll need to OC unless I get the urge to experiment. Thanks for the OC'ing tips though.

i use setcpu, my droid doesn't like anything higher than 1.1ghz. You really need to play with different kernels because sometimes the low, or ulow won't work and you need to use the medium. ever processor is different from phone to phone. my first droid would run at 1.2 on ultra low but had to get a insurance replacement and this one likes 1.1 medium.

OK, I have read this thread a few times and am confused again...

I have an original Moto Droid, now running 2.2.1 build FRG83D.

What can I use to root this build? All of the rooters I see from the links in the thread only refer to build FRG22D or earlier.

Cheers,

Erich

erichf, follow what laughingstill did. He used superoneclick to root. The files are located here. Just register for XDA-Developers and download the file.

I spent quite a bit of time on my wifes OG droid running FRG83D and the only thing that worked to root it was superoneclick.

HEre is the link to superoneclick on XDA:

I've been using rubix focused now for about a month and like most of it. I've flashed gummyjar to see what it was like but didn't stick with it. Same with Flyxx too. So far, I'm sticking with Rubix focused.
