so my dx8 has a wierd sound now.
when powering up or down the beeps and chirps are acting crazy.
also when going thru menus the beeps and chirps sometimes play at the same time.

PID number of HS008X. it has not had the countdown timer update done nor does it seem to have the countdown timer issue.
updated to 1.04

issue resolved

it turns out that if the aux 3 dial is centered this will happen.

my aux 3 dial was centered. i moved the dial past center and now everything is fine.

try it with the aux 3 just a smig on either side of center and try it.

well then yours looks like its good to go.
i do have an early version of the radio.
ill be sending it in for the countdown timer update and ill let them know about this issue too.

mine did the same thing once. I couldn't figure it out but I switched to another model location and it stopped. I haven't been able to get it to do that again.

EDIT: Mine is/was PID 008X - they changed the PID# sticker when I sent it in. I honestly can't remember if that happened before or after I sent it in.

Mine is one of the original sets, and I have not sent mine in. Mine does exactly the same as the video. However it started when I did a new model setup. I figured it must be something to do with that, but I can get it to replicate when I disable the Aux 3 slider and leave it in the middle position.
IT seems that AUX 3 when disabled still seems to function on the TX but does not give an output to the servo's I figure this as the knob still chirps on centering, but the monitor shows no output other than centre.

I can stop mine doing this by turning the AUX3 a smidge off centre the beeps stay normal

i emailed horizon hobby and told them i wanted the update done to the timer issue. i also told them about the beeping issue and that i wanted a switch replaced(i broke the gear switch lever off of the TX).
They sent me prepaid UPS label and said to send it in.

So i sent out my DX8 today 1-10-1011 (monday).

so we will see how it all goes.

Interesting... I sent my radio in in December and got it back after new years. Just popped the battery cover off and noticed they changed my PID sticker to HA008CM. It was one of the PIDs that was in the bulletin.

I bought my dx8 in Nov 2010 from a friend brand new and I was too paranoid to use it after learning about the issues. I have the same PID no. in the bulletin. Does Horizon ask for a proof of purchase before they update the prog?

i told horizon my situation and they sent me a prepaid shipping label.
they did not ask me for a reciept or proof of purchase.

But, when i sent the dx8 to horizon i did include a copy of my reciept. they didnt ask for it i just went ahead and sent it.

UPDATE: the radio was received and updated by horizon hobby all in the same day (friday jan. 14). i got the shipping tracking number today (Monday jan 17)now that is fast.

no word on anything they found or what was done to the radio but it is on its way back to me.

My dx8 delivered back to my house on 1-21-2011.
pretty darn good turn around.
it took 4 days to get the radio to horizon.
horizon did the update the same day they got the radio.
then 4 days shipping back to me.

the invoice says they installed:
1 CAP .01uf 25v ceramic SMT DX8
1 bridge recitifier DX8

they did replace the broken switch free of charge.

there was a note saying the beeping issue was normal. And i can still reproduce the beeping issue with aux dial centered.

Free hat included in the box when the radio was reurned to me.

New sticker in battery compartment says HA008CM.
In the setting menu in the software it says HC008X

All models still intact in the software after return from horizon.
