I flew today, 4 degrees, made a dumb mistake or maybe a dumb thumb. Took my 500 right out of the warm van, lit it up and took off in 4 degrees. Gyro, Futaba 401, went gradually to left. Maybe I should have let it get use to the cold. Anyone else have this problem? I thought the belt broke because the tail was pitching rapidly, belt still looks good but maybe I just got dumb thumbs.

Our club had a New Years Day funfly. Conditions were 7 degrees, clear and sunny with no wind. It was actually a fantastic flying day despite the cold. The sun and lack of wind made it feel warmer than it was. We started flying around 11:30 and stopped around 3:30. I have pics and vid, but it's all airplanes as I kept forgetting to get someone to vid my flights. We had about 15 inches of fresh soft snow which made the planes on skis interesting to land. Lets just say a lot of planes nosed in. I ripped a ski off my plane by doing a high speed landing. We had a burn barrel going and it was pretty cool. Now I can officially say that I have flown my helicopter in 7 degree temps. I'll post pics as soon as I get them off of the camera.

Edit: here is a pic that pretty much sums up the day. A lot of people fetched a lot of planes....

I got two flights in with my 450 at the field over by my house before the wind picked up (sorry no pictures). I was tempted to go home and grab the 600, but I figured that would only P.O. my neighbors I don't need that drama!

Out to our field today for some flying and a club BBQ Temperature is supposed to be in the mid 70's so it should be a good day! Sorry for you guys that are freezing your tails off and up to your bung holes in snow

If it ain't broke, go fly some more!

A small group of us flew in the afternoon. The weather here in Dubai (UAE) at the moment is superb. Midday temperatures 25 C (77 F), blue skies and a 10 knot sea breeze from the NW.

I flew my Vario Bell 212 Turbine.

Happy New Year to you all.

50 degrees and sun, what a change from 20 degrees and 50mph winds. No pictures, but I did have a great flight with my buddies Trex 550.

Damn that ground is hard! When's the right time to get out of this money sucking hobby?

I went out to the airfield and got a test flight in on my 450 Pro. It was breezy and cold out, but I managed to get one flight in. It does suck working on a heli in the cold though. Found my elevator plug backwards and a stripped tooth on a servo gear. Other than that, the flight went fantastic.

18 degrees w/30 mph winds.

I got 2 partial(3/4 tank each due to cold) flights at a good friends place. Warmed up in between in a heated shop.

Picture are here.

We had our New Years Day fly with perfect weather. It was about 45 degrees with Zero wind. We had one of the largest turn outs ever with about 25 - 30 flyers mostly planks with three uf us flying Helis. I'll see if I can round up some pictures of it all. We had a barrel stove going also, but more out of tradition. It sure wasn't needed at all. We started flying at 9:30 AM and I was oneof the last to pull out at 4:30 PM.

A great way to start off the New Year

Happy New Year to all!
