Hi,

Today I've been doing a general inspection after my 10th flight, then I realized that my engine has an important vertical play, if I take the engine from the top I can move the engine with the shaft and pinion almost 1mm, the play is between the engine and the lower part attach to the motor mount.

Is it usual or something is wrong in my engine?.

Thanks,

I'm not sure if anyone understand what I meant.

I attach an image, the play is where the arrow point.

Thanks.

I'll check mine (700MX with 20 flights about) just to see, but I know that Century motors for example have lots of play, it's in fact the pinion thatr stops you from pulling it totally out (I've niever tried this, but I get the impression that with the pinion off, you could pull the stator out)

Mine "same motor" has ZERO vertical play, and looking at design it should not. No biggie just adjust and retain it again and it will be fine.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

I personally think that it should not have any play, all my scorpions i always adjust the shaft or shim it so there is no play in it. Either that or a wave washer to force the can down

I remember watching the scorpion video for bearing replacement and I believe they mention the play being normal and necessary... What I do is check how much there is when the motor is new since a change with increased amounts of play is a indicator of a problem. I had a new 600M were the bottom bearing was bad and got damaged on the first flight. I had a lot of play and could see the bearing giving and allowing the play.

*Edit* 1mm is normal, the one that went bad on me was about that and after the first flight about 4mm....

Hi,

Thanks.

How do you remove this play?.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that when I mounted the engine it didn't have this play.

I'm not sure whether I have to remove the play or not.

I asked to align, but they didn´t response yet. They usually respond?

1mm or so is fine, I would not mess with it... If its much more like 3mm+ then I would check the bearings. I dont think you will get a response from Align. You might try contacting the seller, but it sounds like the motor is fine.
