I've been laughing at this video for days, thinking to myself that it was the coolest crash ever, wishing I could have seen it in person. Well apparently I wished too hard lol, exact same thing happened to me yesterday afternoon. I bought a protos 500 from a buddy on Saturday, flew one short flight on Sunday since I didn't have balance charging connectors for the 6s 2500 batts I got with it. So I get home from work yesterday, and I was planning on seeing if the 3000 mah packs from my exi would fit. I plugged the battery in so the wires would fit, slid the canopy on and it fit. Great I thought, and since it gets dark about 30 minutes after I get home from work, I rush outside to really see how she flies. Notice I said nothing about the o rings that hold the battery down? That's because I forgot to take the canopy back off and put them on. I take off, flip it into idle up, do a couple flips, its flying good. Let's try a tic-toc....BANG! As its falling tail first in slow motion, and raining little chunks of protos canopy, my first thought was this video. My second thought was what the heck just happened there? Third thought was wow! If its gotta crash I couldn't think of a cooler way to do it. Then I remember the o rings. The battery had slung off, and the flimsy canopy just ripped up and they both smacked the blades.

I'm going to have to invest in a hat-cam like lonR's, would've been cool to have on video, but I've got some carnage pics

Looks can be deceiving lol

Frames are broke, servo mount/bearing holders, antirotation bracket, flybar, main/spindle/tail shafts, mixing arms, boom, boom supports, hor. Fin mount, both fins, tailcase, tail pitch fork, belt guide rollers, sab blades, canopy, 6s pack bent up, hopefully its still usable, and a gear set for 9257.

Other than that its fine lol the trash pile is far bigger than the good pile. Expensive lesson about not being a dummy

On a positive note, I can upgrade some of the parts now to make it a little tougher for the next time it goes in

Those are not Align carbon fiber blades NO WAY! here is why.
Align carbon fiber main blade that have the all white blade with the black angled stripe, have the black stripe towards the root end of the blade and they have the Align logo near the bottom of the trailing edge in black. Those blades in the video are the cheap FRP blades from xheli.

the YT vid shows the black stripe out at the blade tip rather than the root. good call on the xheli blades.

Paul still hasnt answered his claim he was using Align blades, when infact all can see they were cheap FRP Xheli blades. It's ok dont get me wrong but dont say you drive a lexus when you are seen in a pinto! dont forget its on video.
