I had Webra engines and they were quite good for me. They were best with low nitro or FAI fuels, unlike the Japanese engines.

I have been wondering (since it's was release) how the Webra 55 would perform with the OS 3 needle Carbs, or even the 2 needle 60L, these OS Carbs have a larger ID than the Webra's Carb and they are most likely easier to tune than the Webra's Carb,,

but unfortunately the OS Carbs wont fit the Webra without machining..

the 52 AAR was a great engine - when it was running right.

When it was not, it was a pain in the a....

the carb would only be a partial fix, because the con rod was weak and a lot of users had them breaking.

Webras were never consistent in quality control anyway, which was why one prominent F3C flyer was known to have stated that only one in 20 Webra engines were any good. They may claim more power etc. . but that means nothing at the end of the day if they couldn't do consistent quality control, you just end up with a small percentage of happy users and the rest totally p@#@ off and not bothering. Not a good way to run a business.

thanks for that reply, see, I don't remember seeing those types of complaints on RR about Webra's, only the tuning complaints

gearhead,

I broke the conrod on mine. Another user I knew did too. And another. In the end the shop I sent the engine to be repair just gave me an OS 50, because they were feed up with all this.

I've had 2 Webra engines, a .50 in an X-Cell 50 and a Red Head .32 that I bought new with my new X-Cell 30. The 50 ran pretty good on the U shaped muffler/tuned pipe. But the .32 never ran right, I was a newb to the heli world then though. I was never a great fan of Webra, they always advertised to be great hot rod motors, but I've never seen that. JOMO

I had a Webra 32 redhead in my Concept. It ran great. Had to shim the head to stop blowing plugs on 15%. I found it had quite a bit more power than the Supertigre 29.

No worries on the fx40...been flying it for five years, love it...
as Futaba, not Robbe manufactures it.

Cannot wait for their new ultra high end radio.

Only had one webra, .60 speed, in 73, ran in my jet ranger perfectly,
but surely such was rare in the experience of others.

Agree with many of you here, their closing statement is rather childish. Blaming the Chinese mfg for their failure is laughable. If there is any ground to such statement, OS wouldn't be around.

webra .61 marine exhaust gaskets

Hey folks,
I manufacture gaskets (mostly exhaust but many head & crankcase as well) for well over 350 2-stroke engines and really love producing them for the out of production engines. The engines last forever if you take care of them as long as parts are available. I am currently trying to get the center-to-center distance in MM between the exhaust mounting bolts for the Webra .61 Marine Front Carb as well as the Rear Carb version (likely the same). Can anyone help? I also manufacture about 75 wood products as well for the RC hobby. Take a look at the web-site at ICBIMProducts.com and as always we have 100% fill rate on orders and always welcome custom orders. Thanks, Larry

Was reading this, just for the interest aspect. I remember a few airplane guys who had to have a Webra Speed, but maybe what...40 years ago?

I don't think the argument of Chinese competition should be dismissed the way it was by Ben and a couple of others. The issue here isn't competing engines. Clearly, the Chinese companies don't have any I've ever seen. It's the fact that they've flooded the market with cheap batteries and helis to put them in. This has made for a downturn in the overall nitro heli market. I don't think there's anyone who will dispute that. So, it's still competing Chinese products, just not the same ones. Not enough of us are buying nitro helis right now to drive much of a market for engines.

I suspect this might change, however. If anyone's experience is like mine, they will eventually grow bored with the noiseless, smokeless, tinker-free electric models. I know I did.

I notice that below the email address, the physical address is distinctly American.

It would be terrific if Webra was resurrected. The Webra 91 heli engine was every bit equal to the OS and YS. Mine was perfect on a muscle pipe.
