I have a question. Can you run 6V (Savox) servos directly off of a 6.6V LiFe batt? No regulator. I was also curious if an Align 780 gyro would work as well unregulated. If so what kind of connector will I have to get ( or make)to supply power from the battery to the rx?

GP780 specs:

Operating Voltage: DC 4.5~7V
●Current Consumption:<80mA @ 4.8V
●Angular Detection Speed:500 degrees/sec
●Operating Humidity:0℃~65℃
●RoHS certification.
●Operating Humidity:0%~95%
●Size:26x25x11mm
●Weight:14g

As for what connector -- eventually, no matter WHAT kind of battery you use, you'll need a connector that fits your RX plugs...just make sure you use the largest gauge wire that will fit the contacts properly.

LiFe 6.6v batteries quickly settle down to just over 6V. This is safe for any modern digital servo made in the past 6-8 years.

The only exception being some older rudder servos that are designed for 5v (i.e. S9254, etc). However those are very easy to manage, just run a 5v step-down between the gyro and servo and problem solved.

I use I'm my turbine , the only thing I don't like is there is no way to monitor voltage as you use to know when to recharge .

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

I use the 2S 2100mAh 6.6V LiFe pack in my Rave ENV unregulated to my electronics(DS610 servos)...i am using a perfect regulators tail step down though to drop me to 4.8V (DS8900G). It works very well, and with the 2100mAh i can get 4 flights on a charge. Very clean setup without the regulator . I just made a connector that plugs into my reciever (Total-G), and that end stays in all the time while the battery connector end just plugs into that when i'm ready to fly

Jeff, what tail servos have you used unregulated 6.6V for a substatial time? I don't know that I'd try that with a Futaba tail servo.

I've got an X50 with a Hyperion tail servo that's done well without a step down, but it's specifically rated for that use. Heli is fairly new, and doesn't have a whole bunch of flights on her yet.

9253,54,56,bls251 all have had some hard flying time and still work fine I did run a 9256 on 8V system for about 15 flights before I remembered to regulate but did not loose servo 

im not telling you to do it but no issues with my tail servos with non regulated life packs

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Jeff, I hear these are very good and they monitor Life batteries as well. I was going to get a couple of them for myself to try at some stage. These are not to be confused with the "Voltwatch" product.

6.6 LiFe

do anyone know where you can buy an adapter to go from a 6.6 LiFe lipo to a Futaba rx?

That appears to be a very nice connector, but it is current limited by the single servo connector. Anything larger than a 450 needs at least two servo leads into the RX to be able to handle the current load IMHO.

I had some brownout issues early on even with two connectors, but that was caused by wimpy standard wire guage servo connectors. I've not had a problem with two 22 ga. connectors even with 90 size machines.

6.6V LiFe lipo

Hey petmotel did you have to fabricate your own connector? I have been wondering if 1 servo lead to the rx would be sufficient.

I custom build my own high current capable rocker switches with two leads running to the RX. Below are a couple of shots of the switch on my X50.
